ASSOC. PROF. DR PONG HON KEAT

Programme Director of BDS, BIT, DIT;
Associate Professor

Assoc. Prof. Dr Pong received his PhD from Nanyang Technological University, where his research focused on computer vision. Prior to his PhD studies, he was a research engineer working on a panorama image generation system in a company spinning off from Kent Ridge Digital Labs. The company was later acquired by Creative Technology. At Creative, he worked on image and video processing. A highlight of his career with Creative was a US patented technology generated from a motion analysis project.

After his PhD studies, Dr Pong worked as an R&D engineer with a multinational company in Singapore and as a research fellow at Nanyang Technological University. He then went back to Malaysia to join a private university in Ipoh, Perak, where he had held the roles of senate member, deputy dean and programme coordinator. Dr Pong’s research interests are in computer vision and computer graphics. He aims to work harder in research and hopes to develop AI technologies that can benefit the industries in Malaysia. He is passionate about teaching and strives to provide high-quality teachings to his students.
