Raffles University must be managed in accordance with the Constitution and the Private Higher Institution Act 1996. They are accountable for the effective governance of RU’s development. Strategic governance develops capability.  For governance purposes strategy is divided into three major areas: academic, resources, and external relations.

RAFFLES UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT

Associate Professor Gregory PRITCHARD

Associate Professor Gregory John PRITCHARD is the President of Raffles University. He has more than 20 years of educational leadership and management experience in the global education industry, including Malaysia, Australia, China and Singapore. He specialises in managing multi-national campuses with the implementation of glocalisation to reach the goal of the business.

Assoc. Prof. Greg PRITCHARD achieved his Master of Education at the Curtin University of Technology in 2008 after completing his Graduate Diploma of Education at Edith Cowan University and Bachelor of Arts (Industrial Design) at Curtin University of Technology. He has involved in the teaching industry for about 20 years in; Australia, Singapore, Botswana, Seychelles, China, and Malaysia. He is engaged in journal publication and has published conference papers in several academic sectors.

Under the leadership of Assoc. Prof Greg PRITCHARD, Raffles University would like to achieve a higher status of “University of the Future”, with the implementation of cutting-edge technology in the university operation.

RAFFLES UNIVERSITY VICE PRESIDENT

Associate Professor Dr TAN Wee Chuen

Associate Professor Dr TAN Wee Chuen has worked in tertiary education institutions for over 20 years within education research, teaching, management and leadership. She has extensive work experience in both academic and management positions. Dr Tan holds a PhD in Educational Technology, a Master degree in Education and a Bachelor Degree in Science and Computer with Education.

As a researcher in education, Dr Tan conducted extensive research in educational technology and has published these findings in various publications including books, proceedings and journal papers. As a lecturer, she had applied various pedagogies at the  higher education level to promote students’ learning, which have been shared in conferences and journals. These experiences have led Dr Tan to become a prominent trainer in pedagogy and providing guidance to academic staff in teaching and learning. She is a Certified Trainer under Human Resources Development Fund Malaysia.  She is also appointed as a Panel Assessor for the Malaysia Qualification Agency.

FACULTY OF AI & ROBOTICS

PROFESSOR DR SASA ARSOVSKI

With more than twenty years’ experience as an AI and IT developer, Prof. Dr Sasa Arsovski has received a Ph.D. from the Department of Applied Computer Science and Informatics, Faculty of Technical Science, University Novi Sad, Serbia. Since 2004 he has been working as an independent associate for the development of ICT in the Guarantee Fund of AP Vojvodina, as a visiting Professor at multiple universities (inc. International University in Novi Pazar, Serbia and University Novi Sad, Serbia). He was also the Lab Vice Director and AI researcher at the Imagineering Institute in Johor.

Prof. Sasa Arsovski has received an award by the Union of ICT Societies of Serbia (JISA, DISKOBOLOS 2009) and author of the books “Decision support and strategic planning ontologies” and “Deep Learning Applications”. He is a member or chief editor of multiple boards including: Informing Science Institute’ (USA);‘Multimodal Technologies and Interaction-MTI international journal’;‘Transactions on Leading-edge Synergistic Robots international journal’; MTI’s “Deep Learning” special issue; Program Chair-ACE international conference (2017); 2018 International Conference on Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence – USA; Academy of Science – Malaysia; and National Machine Learning initiative group.

Prof. Sasa Arsovski is a highly recognized AI researcher in the field of computer vision in the industrial quality control, object detection, image understanding and genetic algorithms in the text processing for neural network chatbots.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
DR PONG HON KEAT

Programme Director of BDS, BIT, DIT;
Associate Professor

Assoc. Prof. Dr Pong received his PhD from Nanyang Technological University, where his research focused on computer vision. Prior to his PhD studies, he was a research engineer working on a panorama image generation system in a company spinning off from Kent Ridge Digital Labs. The company was later acquired by Creative Technology. At Creative, he worked on image and video processing. A highlight of his career with Creative was a US patented technology generated from a motion analysis project.

After his PhD studies, Dr. Pong worked as an R&D engineer with a multinational company in Singapore and as a research fellow at Nanyang Technological University. He then went back to Malaysia to join a private university in Ipoh, Perak, where he had held the roles of senate member, deputy dean and programme coordinator. Before joining Raffles University, he was an associate professor at the Southern University College, heading the Department of Computer Science there.

Dr. Pong’s research interests are in computer vision and computer graphics. He aims to work harder in research and hopes to develop AI technologies that can benefit the industries in Malaysia. He is passionate about teaching and strives to provide high-quality teachings to his students.

DR CHOO YEN LEE
Senior Lecturer of AI & Robotics

Dr CHOO Yen Lee completed her Doctor of Philosophy (Computer Science) Majoring in Virtual, Visualization and Vision at University Technology Malaysia. She also holds 1st Class Honours of Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons), Majoring in Computer Graphic and Multimedia Software at the University Technology Malaysia. She also received 1st Class Honours of Diploma of Computer Science (Hons) Majoring in Multimedia at University Technology Malaysia KL. 

Dr Choo has more than eight years of experience in the Education Industry. Her research/fields of study include human-computer interaction, user experience, multimedia, computer game, and machine learning. With her extensive knowledge and experience in the computing field, she aims to educate and help students reach their highest potential.

Dr Choo’s achievement includes Entering as Finalist in the MYHACKATHON-KK competition. She was also awarded Commercial Value Award for her final year project: Computer Vision-Based Interaction for number Recognition at UTM. Dr Choo published a paper, “Ability of Children to Draw Mathematical Numbers through Computer Mouse”, in the Research Journal of Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology in 2016.

MS MANOREETA N. MANOGARAN
Lecturer of AI & Robotics

Ms Manoreeta is a data science enthusiast with a strong foundation in mathematics. She brings both academic rigor and industry experience to her teaching, honed through her qualifications and work experience. Her education backgrounds are Master of Science (Data Science and Analytics) and Bachelor of Science (Pure Mathematics), both at The National University of Malaysia (UKM)
During her master’s program, Ms Manoreeta undertook a capstone project analyzing EPF member contributions and withdrawals for the years 2021 and 2022. Her undergraduate research focused on a modified Runge-Kutta method for solving ordinary differential equations.

Ms Manoreeta has gained valuable experience in both the manufacturing and financial sectors through industrial experiences. During her time in a manufacturing company, she implemented a new method to optimize packaging department processes, reducing time consumption and increasing efficiency. In the financial sector, she interned as a data scientist, analyzing financial data to improve customer experience.

Ms Manoreeta is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience. She has served as a private tutor for undergraduate students for almost 8 years and a trainer for data-related courses. She is also a sought-after speaker on data science and machine learning, having delivered a talk on regression in machine learning to University of Malaya students organized by the UMDAC (University of Malaya Data Analytics Club).

Ms Manoreeta’s aim is to equip students with a strong understanding of mathematics and data science applications. Through the creation of impactful learning materials and interactive classrooms, she strives to empower students not only to excel academically but also to thrive in their future careers in the industry. “Talk Data to ME”

PROFESSOR DR CHOI SANG LONG

Prof Dr CHOI Sang Long has been working in the corporate sector for over 20 years before embarking in the field of education. He was appointed as senior managerial positions in several local and multi- national companies in retailing, financial and manufacturing sector. He is a Certified Advance HR Practitioner (CAHRP) by the Malaysia Institute of HRM. He is also a Certified Trainer / HR consultant by PSMB. He obtained his PhD specializing in Management from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2011.

Prof Choi has published more than 100 manuscripts in various international indexed journals (ISI/ Scopus), book chapters and proceedings. His research papers are widely cited internationally (Scopus H Index = 14 / Google Scholar H index = 33). His research interest is in the area of Human Resources Management and Organizational Behavior. He has been an examiner and supervisor for PhD students since 2011. He also served as a Panel Assessor for Malaysia Qualification Agency, Education Ministry since 2010.

 
 
 

MS LOW SEE MEI
Programme Director of BBC & BAC; Senior Lecturer

Ms LOW See Mei is Raffles University’s Programme Director in Accountancy. She is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Ms Low has 6 years of teaching experience in education and more than 5 years’ experience in the accountancy industry.

She was once a volunteer with Accounting for International Development (AFID) and continues to work on capacity building in accounting for a non-profit organisation.

MR MELVIN LONG CHAY WINN

Mr Melvin LONG is the Programme Director of Supply Chain Management programmes at Raffles University. Mr Melvin completed his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Supply Chain Management at Asia E University. He achieved his Degree as a certified chartered logistician in the renowned Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT). He is also a doctorate candidate in International Business, emphasising Co-Modality in Transportation.

Mr Melvin has 19 years of experience with multiple corporate companies. He has worked in various regions worldwide in the Oil & Gas Industry, Logistics Industry & Manufacturing industries. He took charge of Operations related Roles related to Supply Chain Management such as Logistics, Warehousing & Inventory, and Quality Management. He is also an entrepreneur and owns a consultancy firm and is a Certified Competent Trainer (Train-The-Trainer – TTT)

Mr Melvin is appointed as a member as a “Logistician” (Pakar Logistik) of the Professional Certification – the Society of Logisticians, Malaysia (Log.M). He is also elected as a Member to the Chartered of Institute of Logistics and Transport, UK (CILT).

MS JOANNE CHING YANN PENG

Senior Lecturer

Ms Joanne CHING received a Masters of Business Administration (specialised in Finance) from the Feng Chia University, Taiwan and a Bachelors of Commerce (Finance) from Queensland University of Technology, Australia.

In 2016, she joined Raffles University where she is currently the Programme Director for the Foundation in Business and Diploma in Business Studies programmes. Her main research interests include banks performance, macroeconomics, and corporate finance. She has taught courses on Financial Management, Corporate Finance, International Finance, and Economics at all levels. Her research has been published in The Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance, The International Business Review, and The International Journal of Finance.

ASSOC. PROF. DR LOW HOCK HENG
Associate Professor of Business

Dr. Low Hock Heng is a distinguished figure in the realm of academia, with a career spanning over three decades dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and the enrichment of young minds.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge and a desire to make a meaningful impact for youth in Malaysia, Dr. Low begins his higher education in one of Malaysia premier universities, earning his undergraduate degree in Chemistry before obtaining his Master’s and Doctorate in Management.  Throughout his academic journey, he distinguished himself not only in the academic sphere but also through his unwavering commitment to fostering a nurturing and holistic learning environment for his peers and students alike.

Over the course of his tenure in academia, he has mentored countless students, guiding them not only in their academic pursuits but also in their personal and professional development.  His involvement in university’s commercialization and lifelong learning programs have far reaching impacts on both the industry and education arena.

Dr. Low is also an active researcher, with numerous publications.  His research focusses mainly on management issues both in the academia and industry environment.  He is also an active member of his community, volunteering his time and expertise to various educational initiatives aimed at bridging the gap in access to quality education.  He derives his satisfaction in seeing miracles unfolding in his students. 

 

DR STEVEN TAN SHEN KIAN
Senior Lecturer of Business

Dr Steven Tan Shen Kian earned both his master’s degree and doctorate from University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. His studies focused on Work Motivation and the 4.0 Industrial Revolution. Dr. Steven began lecturing in 2008. Some of the subjects he has taught include Organisational Behaviour, Principles of Management, Business Ethics and Corporate Governance, Marketing, Business Research Methods, and Consumer Behaviour.

Before becoming a full-time academic staff member, Dr Steven worked in various industries, holding different positions from production planner to operational manager. He has been confirmed as a member of the Society of Industrial Organisational Psychology (SIOP) since year 2019. He is an editor and reviewer for a number of indexed academic publications, including Article Editor of Sage Open, reviewer of Annals of Operations Research, PLOS One, Economic Research-Ekonomska Istraivanja, and Journal of Career Development.

In addition to his academic role, Dr. Steven is involved in corporate training and general article writing. He is an HRDF-certified instructor who mostly teaches leadership and work motivation. Additionally, Dr Steven is a columnist for Sin Chew Daily, where his general articles on topics such as education, management, and current affairs are published every Monday and Saturday.

MR DON JEROME PRYANTHA JAYAMANA
Senior Lecturer of Business

Mr Jerome is a Chartered Company Secretary by profession, having concluded his ICSA in 2000. He also holds a MSc in Finance with University of Leicester, UK and a Master of Education from Wawasan Open University. He is a Senior Fellow of the Malaysian Association of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA), and a Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy, UK. Jerome has over 20 years of working experience in the banking industry.

After joining the education sector, he has lectured the Business and Company Law, Strategic Management and Management Accounting papers in ACCA and serve as a Finance Lecturer for Reading University Malaysia for 5 years. He has mentored many successful students under the Oxford Brookes University- (Hons) Applied Accounting programme. Jerome’s in-depth knowledge of the subjects, coupled with his working experience, enables him to deliver his lectures effectively to his students.

DR NOR AMIRA SYAIRAH BINTI ZULKARNAINI
Lecturer of Business

Dr. Nor Amira Syairah Binti Zulkarnaini completed her Doctor of Philosophy at University Technology Malaysia (UTM). She hold her Masters in Human Resource Development at University Technology Malaysia and Degree in Human Resource in University Teknologi Mara.

In the area of research and publications, she has been involved in research projects, and her publications have appeared on topics related to human resource development, corporate social responsibility and crisis management among industries in Malaysia.

MS TAN LING LIE
Lecturer of Business

Ms TAN Ling Lie joined Raffles University in 2017 as a lecturer of Accounting in the Business department. She is responsible for teaching accounting and all accounting related modules.

Prior to her academic career with Raffles University, she had over three years experience working in Singapore in one of their Top 10 professional accounting firms and with one of the Big 4 professional accounting firms in Malaysia as an auditor.

She holds a Master’s Degree of Science in Accountancy and Finance (MSc) from Birmingham City University, and an affiliate in ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).

DR DAN JOON CHEW
Lecturer of Business

Dr Dan holds a PhD in Management (Marketing) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Master of Science (Marketing) from University Putra Malaysia and a Degree in Marketing from Murdoch University, Australia.

Prior to his attachment as an academician, he was an industry practitioner. He spent almost 25 years in various industries such as airlines, hospitality, telecommunications and rubber industry, holding various positions from service management, sales management, fleet management to marketing management. He is specialised in teaching subjects relate to marketing and supply chain management.

TS DR NAZRY BIN YAHYA
Lecturer of Business

Ts Dr Nazry bin YAHYA graduated with his Doctor of Commerce from Flinder University, Australia. He completed his Master of Business Administration from Charles Sturt University, Australia and Bachelor of Science from Eller College of the University of Arizona, USA.

Ts Dr Nazry is a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport. On top of it, he owns various professional or membership certifications, including UNCTAD Certified Trainer, MBOT Professional Technologist, Certified PSMB TTT, Licensed NLP Practitioner and Certified TPS Manager. He is also a professional consultant in various international companies in the logistics industry.

He has more than two decades of teaching experience at the university and has been appointed as an industry advisor and external supervisor in various local and international universities. He is also an author of several academic book publications, academic publications and also a keen novelist.

Ts Dr Nazry has been a facilitator in the UNCTAD program since 2017, where he has conducted many port and logistics programs around the globe. He is also one of the most sought-after speakers in webinars and in international conferences.

DR ALEX TAN WEI KIAN

Dr Alex completed his PhD in Computer Science at University of Technology Malaysia. He also obtained his MSc in Multimedia from Multimedia University in 2011, specialising in interactive installation, user experience, web development, new media, media innovation, motion graphic, sustainable design, augmented reality and gamification.

He received his Bmm (Hons) Creative Multimedia majoring in Digital Media from Multimedia University in 2005. He has been teaching at various local and international university including Raffles Design Institute (Shanghai) and Raffles University since 2006. He is in charge of the Learning Management System (LMS) for several campuses under the Raffles Education Group. Dr Alex has also worked in the industry since 2005 and manages his own multimedia company which focuses on web design, web/app development and consultancy.

Dr Alex’s main interest is in developing dynamic teaching method to enrich students’ learning experiences by associating theory with practical experience such as live exhibitions, visiting companies, collaborating with industry partners. He is passionate about motivating students to participate in activities and competitions to develop their self-confidence and their interest in learning and critical thinking. He has also been appointed as the chairperson for the Board of Teaching & Learning for Raffles University.

ASSOC. PROF. DR WONG SHAW CHIANG

Associate Professor

Dr WONG Shaw Chiang is a passionate graphic design practitioner who believes that designers should use their expertise to address a wide range of issues and take a leading role in making the world a better place for all. In addition to working on commercial projects, he actively participates in various community projects such as TEDxSungaiSegget, Ihsan Johor Humanitarian Project, RUN Volunteer Network, Tong Yi Carnival, and more. These initiatives aim to promote sustainable and inclusive development within his community.

With over a decade of experience in tertiary education, Dr Wong currently serves as the Programme Director for the Bachelor of Graphic Design (Honours), Diploma in Visual Communication, and Master of Design (ODL). He also holds the position of Head of Centre for Postgraduate Studies at Raffles University. In addition to administrative responsibilities, where he ensures all the academic programmes meet national and international quality standards and comply fully with university policies, he is an educator who has taught and supervised students at the diploma, undergraduate, and master’s levels. Dr Wong holds a PhD in Creative Studies, a Master’s degree in Education with a specialisation in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design. He is a Certified Trainer accredited by HRDF Malaysia.

Dr Wong is actively engaged in research and development related to pedagogical methods for design-centric learning and graphic design practice within the context of Malaysia. To date, he has published more than 10 research papers, with most of them being published under his name as the first author.

MS NUR AISYAH BINTI MD NAJIB
Programme Director of BFD & DFD ; Lecturer

Ms Aisyah Najib started her profession in the fashion industry for almost nine years before embarking on the field of education. She graduated from Universiti Teknologi Mara, UiTM Shah Alam, in Art and Design, majoring in Fashion and minor in Textile Design. She also gained a Postgraduate degree in Design Technology with Excellent Candidate Awards from the same university.

Her achievement includes participating in Invention, Innovation & Design Exposition (index) 2019 with Silver Awards. In addition, she is an Optitex Certified 3D Essential User from Efi Optitex USA Inc. and Telestia Certified Trainer, Clotech Atelier Academy Malaysia.

She has worked with several local and international brands in product development, production, manufacturing and fashion technology. Her technical specialisation includes pattern making, grading, and 3D body fitting. She has been exposed to the mass production of apparel, ready-to-wear, sportswear and multifunctional clothing that become comfortable for the wearer’s body fitting and cutting.

MR ELLEM OOI KOK HOR
Head of Center for Innovative Teaching & Learning (CITL) / Lecturer of Arts & Design

Mr Ellem Ooi is the lecturer of Graphic and Multimedia Department in Raffles University since 2018. Currently, he is in charge of teaching design and multimedia courses, as well as supervising students for their final year projects. In 2006, he obtained a Bmm (Hons) Creative Multimedia, major in Digital Media from Multimedia University. In 2018, he obtained a Masters of Instructional Design and Technology from Open University Malaysia, specializing in e-learning and educational technology.

At the beginning of his professional teaching career, he accumulated 6 years of design industry experience being an interactive graphic and web designers in Singapore and Brunei. He developed knowledge and insight in advertising, web development and internet marketing. He also dedicated over 7 years as a lecturer at the International Graduates Studies College (Brunei) and visual design and multimedia Diploma courses from Lim Kok Wing University of Creative Technology.

DR TAN HUI SIANG
Lecturer of BFD & DFD

Dr. Tan Hui Siang graduated from Iowa State University (ISU) with a doctoral degree in Apparel, Merchandising, and Design in 2017, focusing on bi-cultural entrepreneurship. She then taught in Apparel, Merchandising, and Design program (ISU) as a lecturer in spring 2018. During her grad school, Dr. Tan worked as a graduate assistant to assist faculty in teaching and research for eight years. Classes that she taught as a teaching assistant included fashion illustration, CAD, virtual retailing and product development labs, besides financial workshop of entrepreneurship. Whereas for graduate research, she mostly assisted for Iowa Retail Initiative project and student consulting projects, which aim to promote rural small business development in Iowa, USA.

Before ISU, Dr. Tan was teaching online as an associate faculty for two years at University of Central Missouri, after receiving her master’s degree in Industrial Management. She also worked in the US retail stores for three years after earning her bachelor’s degree in Textile and Clothing in Business.

Furthermore, Dr. Tan graduated from LaSalle Fashion International School in Kuala Lumpur with a Fashion Design Diploma in 1998 besides years of working experience in apparel industries and tailor store in Malaysia before her further study to the US.

MS RACHEL KIM YEONHA
Lecturer of BFD & DFD

Senior Fashion Design Lecturer Rachel Kim brings over a decade of education and design experience in the global fashion industry, with a footprint spanning Korea, the USA, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Cambodia. She has taught fashion design at international campuses in collaboration with renowned institutions such as Northumbria University (UK), Mod’art (France), and BTEC (UK). Her own educational journey includes studies in fashion design in Korea, Italy, and Spain. She holds a Master’s degree in Science in Fashion Design from Gachon University, Korea, and another Master’s degree in Fashion Design from the Istituto Europeo di Design in Barcelona, Spain.

Rachel Kim has been recognised for her excellence as a supervisor, receiving awards at the at Rio Fashion Design Contest by Sweet Life Ltd, Switzerland and Raffles Design Institute Guangzhou. In 2020, she contributed to the field with her published paper titled “Storytelling in Clothing Design: A Study of Fashion Brand ‘SEAM’ in Indonesia,” featured in the International Journal of Scientific & Technology Research.

With her profound understanding of the apparel business, encompassing garment design, production, and marketing, Rachel is passionate about teaching and guiding students in both individual and corporate settings.

MS NURSHAMINE NAZIRA BINTI MOHD NOR
Lecturer of Arts & Design

Ms Nurshamine Nariza binti Mohd Nor received his Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in Computer Science (Software Engineering) at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). She is pursuing a Master of Philosophy in Software Engineering at Universiti Technologi Malaysia (UTM)

Ms Shamine has rich experience in education as a research and teaching assistant at UTM. She was appointed as a Trainer for Advanced Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality at MaGICX UTM. Ms Shamine also worked as a programmer and developer in the education and financial industry.

In the area of research and publication, she has been involved in a research project related to Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) and her expertise area in Virtual Reality Sports games, User Interface (UI) & User Experience (UX) Design.

MS SYLVIA TAN HUEY WEN

Ms Sylvia Tan Huey Wen has worked in the design industry and tertiary education institutions in Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Singapore for more than 10 years. She has extensive work experience in both academic and design industry. She was the head of design team in GIMC, Guangzhou and the creative director of Hydrogen limited, Hong Kong. Her expertise includes advertising design, advertising strategic planning, branding design, publication design and so on. During her work in advertising and design agency, she was in charge of the clients of China Telecom Global, Subaru, Shangrila Hotel, Huawei and so on.

Besides, during her teaching in Hong Kong Design Institute and Neusoft Institute Guangdong, she has leaded the students to win various international design awards such as D&AD awards, The One Show awards, HK4as Kam Fam awards and so on.

After received Diploma of Graphic Communication from Nanyang Academy of Fine Art, Singapore, Ms Sylvia Tan Huey Wen continued her studies in UK. She received her Master of Arts in Art and Design and Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honors) in Graphic Communication from Loughborough University, UK. Currently, She is pursuing her PhD degree in University Malaya, focusing of strategic communication of social media.

Ms Lew Su-Ann combines practical experience in graphic design with a passion for education.  Following her graduation with a BMM (Hons) in Creative Media from Multimedia University in 2007, she gained valuable experience working as a graphic designer in Singapore and Brunei. Drawing on this industry knowledge, she transitioned into teaching, dedicating the past four years to instructing graphic and multimedia courses.  She is committed to helping students develop their design skills and prepare them for successful careers.

MR AHMAD FIRDAUS BIN MOHAMED AFENDI

With a combined eight years of industry and academic experience, Mr Firdaus brings a unique perspective to the field of creative multimedia storytelling. A graduate of Raffles University’s prestigious Bachelor of Multimedia Design (Honours) programme (2018), he has since cultivated a successful career that bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

For the past five years, Mr Firdaus has enriched students at Faculty of Creative Industries (FCCI), Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management & Technology (TARUMT). His teaching philosophy, aligned with his belief in the power of visuals, is evident in the modules he leads (Multimedia Video & Audio, Applied Photography, etc.). Going beyond lectures, he has successfully supervised award-winning final year projects.

IDr Mohd Khedzir is the Program Director of Interior Design Programme at Raffles University (RU). He has joined the RU family in 2016. Prior to joining Raffles, he obtained his Diploma in Interior Design from Institut Teknologi MARA (ITM). Even though active in the industries, he pursues his BSc of Housing, Building and Planning majoring in Interior Design from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 1999.

He entered the education field in 2002 when he joined MARA Youth Junior College (MRSM) as an art teacher and in 2003, he joined Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) as a lecturer until 2015, while completing his MA in Visual Communication in 2007. His passion in research involves museum spatial, circulation design and heritage studies. He did quite a few academic research pieces and published in several journal and proceedings.

Despite his activities as an academic, he is also active in the professional body. Currently, he is a registered member of Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM) Interior Designers, Corporate Members of Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID) and recently as an accreditation panel member of Council of Architectural Accreditation and Education Malaysia (CAEM) Board of Architect Malaysia for Interior Design Programme.

TS MUHAMMAD SYUKRI
BIN ABDULLAH SANI

TS Syukri has been teaching Interior Design programmes at Raffles University since 2012. Trained as an architect with a Part II qualification, he is also a Professional Technologist and possesses MIID Academic Membership. Syukri has gained various industry experiences including working with Razin Architects and Yonezawa Architects while obtaining his Master of Engineering (Architecture) in Japan. His area of expertise includes technological experimentation and innovation, as well as driving creative ideas toward inventive concept designs. 

At Raffles University, Ts Syukri engages in various design studio modules, mainly focusing on concept development, design process and computer skills of interior designers. Ts Syukri also promotes students’ professional development skills, managing the Design Workshop and facilities as well as curating the interior design student’s project. In 2018, Syukri was awarded the prestigious SAKURA Exchange Program in Science where he coordinates research collaboration between Raffles University students and Nagoya Institute of Technology (NiTech) in the field of virtual reality in Japan. 

Ts Syukri has also engaged in projects related to the field of technology, innovation, and design experimentation. In June 2016, he published a research paper that won the Best Paper Award at the Proceedings of the 22nd IASTEM International Conference in Tokyo, Japan. In this paper, he highlights that virtual reality technology could be assembled by architecture students easily and as low as zero dollars. Ts. Syukri’s passion leads to his interest in the research area of technology and how it could benefit teaching and learning in interior design and architecture.

MS SHARON LEE SOO HOON

Ms Sharon is a lecturer in Interior Design. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design and master’s degree in Landscape Architecture.

She was a Project Manager in Singapore. As a project manager, she heads the project department for all administration, agreement, operation and project matters. She managed a team from project proposal to implementation and completion of design and build projects, while collaborate with a wide range of industry partners to ensure projects meet the performance standards and follow schedule for project deliverable.

She was an Interior Designer in Singapore and Malaysia. She has designed and delivered various interior design projects such as residential, office, shopping mall, retail, stage, and others. She has handled interior design projects from agreement, consult, conceptual design, detail drawings, selection of materials and finishes, project schedule and planning, to submission of projects. She loves to design and create something good, functional, yet aesthetic, from a small piece of furniture, to a big piece of interior space.

TS AHMAD FAIZ BIN HASSAN NAZIRI

For more than eight years, Ts Ahmad Faiz Bin Hassan Naziri has worked in the academic and construction industries concurrently. He has been involved in several notable construction projects as an architect while also being able to teach students in the field of architecture and design. His areas of expertise are history in architecture and design, and he has worked on several measured drawing projects for both academic and professional fields.

Ts. Ahmad Faiz graduated from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) with a Master of Architecture (LAM Part II) and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture (LAM Part I). In addition to actively taking part in competitions and innovation events, he has produced several research papers, books, and other publications. Being a finalist for ‘Kumpulan Inovatif dan Kreatif’ (KIK) at the National Public University level is among Ts. Ahmad Faiz’s best accomplishments, while also being awarded for Best Male Presenter at the University Northern Chapter level. He has worked on several joint projects with local neighborhoods, schools, and other communities to create interactive educational crafts, murals, and other art for the locals to enjoy.

Furthermore, he served as the project and design architect for several architectural projects and has collaborated with Malaccan and Perak State Government in R&D to produce masterplan tourism plan. With his extensive knowledge and experience in the architecture and design field, He hopes to teach and assist students in developing awareness of the importance of becoming the greatest “you” you can be.

MS LIM SU CHING

Ms LIM Su Ching holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Housing, Building, and Planning. She is currently conducting research in Architecture at the University of Technology Malaysia.

Ms Su Ching has more than 17 years of progressive experience in the Design Industry. She is working with 2 of the well-known companies in Singapore, specialising in bringing brands to life through experience. She uses various techniques for every project and enables it to find the most appropriate media for any brand to live. She also has experience creating product launches, live events, exhibition stands, trade booths, and residential and Commercial projects for numerous industries.

Ms Su Ching was awarded Best Booth Design Award by the Pico Group. She was also part of the design team with Google in 4 immersive events, engaging over 10,000 google developers and activating 42 google experiences. She published an article in the Malaysia Journal of Sustainable Environment.

MR TANG YONG KUAN
Lecturer of Built Environment &
Regenerative Design

MR TANG Yong Kuan (MR YK) holds a Master of Architecture from the National University of Malaysia. He has at least 5 years of teaching experience at Raffles University. He has over 20 years of experience in the Interior Design Industry in Singapore and Malaysia. He is also known as the founder of Formota Sdn Bhd.

Mr YK won various awards throughout his journey in Interior Design Industry. He won the Gold Award for Best Boutique Hotel Design in Atap Design Awards 2022 and Bronze Award for Best Hospitality Design Award in Johor Interior Designers’ Association Award 2022.

MR YK is also active in various associations or networks. He was a Deputy President of Johor Interior Designers’ Association from 2014 to 2016. He was also a founding president of BNI Transcend Chapter BNI Transcend Chapter from 2016 – 2019. He is the founding member of the Rotary Club Impian Emas since 2022.

DR AMOS LIAN EN ZHE

Dr Amos received his PhD in Psychology at University of Sains Malaysia. He also completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and his Master’s Degree in Integrative Psychotherapy in the United Kingdom. He was practising in the UK as a counsellor and mental-health support worker for 2 years. He is now pursuing his PhD in counselling in Malaysia. In his current PhD research, he is developing new integrative trauma psychotherapy for the Asian populations who have experienced complex trauma.

Dr Amos also undertook a Postgraduate Certificate Program in Advanced Object Relations Psychoanalysis in the US. He was also trained in Schema Therapy, Art Therapy and Sand-play Therapy.

Dr Amos has been actively teaching and training various psychology and counselling university courses in Malaysia, Singapore and the US. He is now a psychology lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Raffles University.

Mr Amos is also a psychotherapist with more than 5 years of experience and also the co-founder of Enlight Mental Health Charity, serving the local community in Johor.

DR LOGENTHINI A/P MARIAPPAN

Dr Logenthini Mariappan has more than ten years of academic experience in tertiary education institutions. Dr Logen holds a Ph.D. in Education (TESL), a Master of Education (TESL), and a Bachelor of Education (TESL). Dr Logen has produced journal articles and proceedings from her research on teaching and learning. She is currently working on a book to support students’ learning processes as well as journal articles that fit the craze for knowledge accumulation.

Dr Logen is a certified trainer under Human Resources Development Fund Malaysia. She has led numerous management and teaching staff training. Her research interests include TESL, Teacher Professional Development, ESL Curriculum and Instruction, and Technology in Language Learning and Linguistics.

MS THIVYA A/P ASOKAN

Ms Thivya is a committed English Language lecturer with 7 years of experience at various Malaysian academic institutions teaching students from different cultural and social backgrounds.Ms Thivya possesses effective teaching methods that promote invigorating learning environment and often incorporates English language activities that are hands-on, authentic and interactive to strengthen on classroom learning. She constantly provides feedback and guidance to help students to enhance their language skills. She is also willing to take initiate to improve the quality of teaching methods if required.

Hardworking & dedicated, Thivya is willing to put in extra time to learn and accomplish a task. Not only that, she is also an independent and dynamic team player and able to communicate with all levels. She strongly believes in the concept of “English beyond the classroom” as it assists students to become better English language learners.

MS SALMIAH BINTI AWANG

Ms Salmiah binti AWANG is a lecturer at Raffles University with a Master in Malay Literature from Universiti Putra Malaysia (2010-2012) and a Bachelors Degree from the University of Malaya (2005-2008).

She has over 10 years experience in the field of Social Science, specialising in TITAS, Ethnic Relations, Malaysian Studies and Malay Language. She has also presented papers at seminars organized by public universities and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka. Amongst her studies presented at the seminar were “Simbolisme dalam Puisi Kanak-kanak”, “Keberkesanan Lagu Patriotik dalam Pembangunan Jati Diri” dan ” Dokumentasi Tumbuhan Herba dalam Menjana Kehidupan di Alam Melayu”. She is also involved in enhancement courses in teaching such as “Program Bimbingan Tenaga Pengajar Mata Pelajaran Umum”.

MS WONG SHIR LING

Upon completion of her Master of Education studies at Macquarie University, Ms Wong dedicated her knowledge to teach at local colleges and universities. For 12 years, her efforts were directed towards providing effective learning scaffolds so that students can progress in a congenial yet challenging learning environment. Her primary endeavours include equipping students with transferrable skills such as contemporary literacy, critical thinking, ethical analysis and creative problem solving, in the process of which students would be able to unleash their potentials to excel in areas of their respective pursuit.

MR CHEW BOON TAO
Lecturer of Social Sciences

Mr Boon Tao is a passionate and dedicated lecturer who is embarking on a journey to inspire students through the intersection of practical experience and academic pursuit. Having completed a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Raffles University, Mr Boon Tao developed a strong foundation in understanding the complexities of the human brain and its impact on mental well-being.

This educational background laid the groundwork for his subsequent professional experience as a clinical neurofeedback practitioner. Currently nearing completion of his Master’s degree in Cognitive Science at Osnabrück University, Germany, Mr Boon Tao is deeply engaged in exploring innovative approaches to understanding the human mind and its impact on various cognitive processes.

Within his research focus, Mr Boon Tao explores the synergistic relationship between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Neuroscience, uncovering cognitive mechanisms and developing AI-based solutions for brain-computer interfaces and cognitive enhancement. His research aims to bridge these fields, revolutionizing our understanding of the brain and enhancing human well-being.

MS SHUBASHINI A/P MATHIALAGAN
Lecturer of Social Sciences

Ms Shuba is a Clinical Psychologist and a lecturer. She is currently in the final stages of completing her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Counselling at the University of Malaya. Her doctoral research focuses on developing a culturally adapted mindfulness-based intervention for weight-related struggles among overweight women in Malaysia. She holds a Master’s degree in Abnormal and Clinical Psychology from Swansea University, United Kingdom, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from York St John University, United Kingdom.

With over five years of teaching and tutoring experience in the United Kingdom and Malaysia, Ms Shuba’s expertise lies in the realms of body image and eating disorders, women’s health, intervention development and cultural adaptation, discrimination, criminal psychology, and dark personality, among other areas.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Ms Shuba has been a practicing Clinical Psychologist for more than five years. She is a highly trained Acceptance and Commitment Therapy practitioner, with a primary focus on mindfulness. Additionally, she is trained in wellness coaching, having worked extensively with corporate clients on managing emotions, addressing retrenchment concerns, facilitating career progression, and dealing with general behavioural and psychological challenges. Ms Shuba has delivered numerous mental health talks to corporate companies and institutions, covering topics such as mental health stigma, resilience, discrimination, mindfulness lifestyle, and stress management, among others

MS ADELINE TAN WEI WEI
Lecturer of Social Sciences

Ms Adeline is a psychotherapist and registered & licensed counsellor. She graduated with an MA in Education (Guidance & Counselling) from UTM in 2015; MA in Education (Educational Psychology & Counselling) from National Chengchi University, Taiwan in 2006; Graduate Diploma in Psychology from Monash University, Australia in 2003; and BSc in Physics from Universiti Sains Malaysia, with a Major in Physics and a Minor in Management Studies in 1998.

She was awarded the Stella Crossley Prize in 2002 and William Webster Prize in 2003 by Monash University, Australia, for the highest aggregate mark in all core units of the Psychology major among 500 students worldwide. She is an experienced practitioner in psychotherapy and obtained her Advanced Diploma in Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy, The Institute of Satir Pacific, Canada in 2012; certificate in Play Therapy, SAPET, Malaysia in 2011. She was trained in a number of different counselling and psychotherapy approaches. She is an enthusiastic psychology lecturer, counsellor and psychotherapist.
