Community Service in Action: Volunteer at Zoo Johor

On a recent community service day, students from Raffles University came together at Zoo Johor to support sustainable practices and contribute to a cleaner, more welcoming environment. This hands-on experience allowed students to actively engage in social responsibility and develop practical skills that positively impact the zoo’s upkeep and sustainability efforts.

Students worked closely with zoo staff, assisting with essential cleaning, organising, and maintenance tasks across the zoo grounds. From scrubbing pathways and refreshing public areas to organising spaces, each task was an opportunity for students to learn the importance of teamwork, community service, and sustainable practices. Their hard work not only lightened the load for zoo staff but also enhanced the environment for visitors, aligning with the zoo’s sustainability goals.

The contributions of Raffles University students extended beyond physical tasks. They gained insights into the significance of public service and the role that well-maintained spaces play in community enjoyment and conservation awareness. This community service experience underscored how teamwork and small actions can create lasting impacts within the community and environment. It also enriched their academic journey, offering a real-world perspective on the importance of community responsibility and sustainable practices for preserving public spaces and protecting the environment.
