Zine Voyages: Dreams Unleashed Photo Booth

Raffles University’s Diploma in Visual Communication students recently organised the “Dreams Unleashed Photo Exhibition” in collaboration with PKBB SHUANG FU JB. This exhibition, held at the university’s campus, aimed to raise awareness for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 10: Reduced Inequalities, while also supporting Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).Diploma in Visual Communication students’ final digital photography portfolio is required to create a documentary photo for PKBB SHUANG FU JB in Johor Bahru.

The Dreams Unleash Photo Exhibition, held from 18 March to 21 March, showcased a visual narrative of hope and empowerment through photography captured at the Double Blessing Centre. The exhibition also featured merchandise, including keychains, brochures, and bookmarks, created by Diploma in Visual Communication students. As part of the exhibition, there was a sharing session on 20 March from 11 am to 12.30 pm. This session provided attendees with a deeper understanding of the stories behind the photographs and the experiences of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).

Through this “Dreams Unleashed Photo Booth”, Diploma in Visual Communication students show the working & learning lifestyle of the disability person (PwDs) in the community. At the same time, these photos also show how Diploma in Visual Communication students care for their disabled friends and how Double Blessing fosters meaningful charity activities. In this exhibition, they created 5 zine books and some lovely merchandise for charity sales, and all the profit raised from the event is donated to PKBB SHUANG FU JB.  It was a meaningful opportunity to engage with the community and gain insights into their lives.
