Raffles University proudly announces a comprehensive Health Awareness Programme organised by our dedicated students. this initiative aims to foster a healthier lifestyle in our community through engaging events. Here is a detailed look at what transpired and what to expect:
Week 1: Virtual Webinar on Heart Disease Awareness
The Health Awareness Programme kicked off with a highly informative virtual webinar focusing on heart disease, one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Conducted via Google Meet, this two-hour session featured a distinguished Cardiologist from Columbia Asia Hospital Tebrau as the keynote speaker
Week 2: Healthy Food Preparation Contest
Kicking off the programme was the Healthy Food Preparation Contest. Students showcased their culinary skills by creating nutritious and delicious dishes. The contest aimed to highlight the importance of a balanced diet in maintaining overall health. Participants brought forward their creativity and nutritional knowledge, making the event both educational and enjoyable. Winners were chosen based on taste, presentation, and the nutritional value of their dishes. Participants then took to the courts for a series of friendly matches, where they had the chance to showcase their skills and enjoy the competitive spirit of the game.
Week 3: Physical Activity Event – Badminton
Continuing with the theme of promoting a healthier lifestyle, Week 3 featured a Physical Activity Event focused on the sport of badminton. This event took place at Academic Badminton Johor Perling and was designed to encourage participants to incorporate regular physical activity into their routines.
Week 4: Blood Donation Drive in Collaboration with KPJ Healthcare.
The highlight of the Health Awareness Programme was the Blood Donation Drive, organised by the MPU3412 Community Service students in collaboration with KPJ Healthcare. Held on 3 July 2024, this event was a resounding success, drawing a significant number of donors from the Raffles University community. The Blood Donation Drive aimed to raise awareness about the critical need for regular blood donations in emergency medical care. Each donation made during this event has the potential to save multiple lives, underscoring our community’s commitment to supporting local healthcare initiatives.
