ISAKURA EXCHANGE PROGRAMME
RU was selected to participated Sakura Exchange Programme
Raffles University (formerly known as Raffles University Iskandar ) (RU(+) is honoured to be selected for the prestigious SAKURA Exchange Programme in Science. The programme is sponsored by Japan’s Science and Technology Agency and covers all expenses for the RU team: airfares, accommodation and activities expenses. The partner university in Japan is the Nagoya Institute of Technology (NITech).
Raffles University (RU) is honoured to be selected for the prestigious SAKURA Exchange Programme in Science. The programme is sponsored by Japan’s Science and Technology Agency and covers all expenses for the RU team: airfares, accommodation and activities expenses. The partner university in Japan is the Nagoya Institute of Technology (NITech).
Two RU academic staff and 10 students (five from the Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and five from the Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) will travel to Japan from 21st to 30th June to conduct research in the Japanese Manufacturing Industry. The research topic is “The Impact of Virtual Reality (VR) for Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) through Cognitive Perception ”. The research aims to discover how cue depth and relative size through VR affect OHSA in industry.
The lead researchers and supervisors from RU are Dr. Samuel Chan Hsin Chlen from the Psychology Department and Mr. Muhammad Syukri Bin Abdullah Sani from the Department of Interior Design. The team leader in Japan is NITech Professor Keisuke KITAGAWA.
The SAKURA Exchange Programme in Science aims to promote science and technology in Asian countries through youth exchange programmes between Asian countries and Japan. SAKURA Exchange Programme in Science has close collaborations with industry, academia and the Government, and NITech is one of the core participants.
NITech uses these collaborations to facilitate short term visits for outstanding Asian youths under the SAKURA Exchange Programme. NITech is one of the leading engineering colleges in the central region of Japan. RU’s collaboration with NITech will lead to new opportunities to develop and share cutting edge technology and knowledge.
