The Raffles University Centre of Professional Development (RUCPD) recently conducted a Professional Attachment/Internship Briefing for students who are undertaking internships in the September 2023 intake. The briefing was shared by Mr Suraj Mariappan, the manager of RUCPD.

1. Procedure of Professional Attachment / Internship

The RUCPD briefing meticulously outlined the procedures for securing and excelling in internship roles. This encompassed detailing the application process, specifying the criteria for placement, highlighting the necessary documentation and the period of internship.

2. Tips to prepare for Professional Attachment / Internship

RUCPD’s briefing imparted essential tips to help students prepare effectively. This encompassed guidance on preparation of resumes, conducting research on host organisations, and refining professional communication skills for interview.

3. Things to complete during the Professional Attachment / Internship

Mr. Suraj also emphasised the importance of internship assessments that students must complete by the end of their internship. These assessments include the internship report, internship log, and internship presentation. Some of these documents may necessitate weekly supervision and review.

4. Professional Attachment / Internship Visit Support / Counselling

RUCPD offers comprehensive internship support, encompassing internship visits and counseling throughout the internship duration. Recognizing that students may be newcomers to the industry, this support is designed to provide assistance as needed. Students are encouraged to reach out to RUCPD whenever they encounter challenges during their internship.
