IMPORTANT TO KNOW

During your journey at Raffles University, it is important to adhere to specific guidelines aimed at creating a positive and respectful learning environment, as mandated by the Malaysian government. The dedicated International Office team is responsible for overseeing these rules to maintain a conducive atmosphere. They are readily available to offer assistance and support, so don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

International Student Orientation

Attending the international orientation allows you to connect with fellow international students and gain insights into the rules and regulations for living and studying in Malaysia. It’s an essential step in your journey.

For international students at Raffles University, upholding an 80% class attendance rate is imperative for an engaged educational journey. To ensure visa renewal, meeting this requirement is mandatory. Complying with this criterion is essential to maintain your visa status and continue your studies smoothly.

Immigration Support

The International Office provides comprehensive immigration support including assistance with the application and renewal of student visas, guidance on maintaining compliance with immigration regulations, and liaising with the Immigration Department and Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS). The office helps students prepare the necessary documentation, such as passport endorsements and i-Kad applications, and advises on staying updated with visa expiry dates to avoid overstaying penalties.

  1. If you are planning to return to your home country during the semester break or holidays, you need to inform the International Office Department for advice on your next Student Pass
  2. Should your Student Pass / Visa is still valid during travelling to home country, it is strongly encouraged for all international students to inform International Office Department on your movement and provide the return flight booking confirmation via email to io@raffles-university.edu.my. This is to avoid the missing in action (MIA) situation, where Raffles University has the right to lodge a police and Immigration report against you.
  3. If you need to take emergency leave which require you to go back to your home country, please fill up the form at Student Affairs & Services (SAS) counter or email to sas@raffles-university.edu.my.
  1. International student must hold a valid passport to enter Malaysia and a valid student visa upon entry to Malaysia.
  2. * If the existing student visa is expired, they MUST apply new Student Pass Application to EMGS through RU IO. Student may enter Malaysia upon receiving Visa Approval Letter (VAL) only. There are charges imposed by EMGS for submission of new Student Pass Application, approximately RM 2,500.
  3. The existing international student must plan their travelling date in advance. Please consult RU IO Department for itinerary planning.
  4. Should the existing student received new approved VAL prior entry to Malaysia, please proceed to EMGS International Student Arrival Centre (ISAC) for verification and immigration clearance upon arrival.
  1. An application for the renewal of a Student Pass must be made at least two (2) months before the expiry date of the existing pass /
  2. The application must include a photocopy of the existing student visa and student ID card, the original passport, and Immigrations fee for Student Pass (they are according to countries within the range of RM60– RM150) and advance tuition fee
  3. It will take approximately 30 days to obtain renewal from the Any penalty imposed by the Immigration Office for overstay or other penalties must be borne by the applicant.
  4. The Immigration Office has the right to cancel a student pass based on poor attendance and poor academic
  5. All international students are to be covered by an insurance adhere throughout their duration of studies. This will be organized by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS).
  1.  If you renew or change your passport for any reason, please transfer your student pass sticker from the old passport to the new passport immediately.
  2. Your student pass will not be valid in the old passport.
  3. You need to bring your old and new passports to the International Office Department to prepare the necessary documents for the sticker transfer.
  4. There will be charges for a Single / Multiple entry visa based on the entry country.
  5. The duration for transferring the sticker would be 14 working days upon submission to the Immigration.
  1. In the event that you lose your passport, you need to do the following steps:
  2. Lodge a police report. With the police report, proceed to your Embassy or High Commission to apply for a new passport.
  3. Upon obtaining your new passport, proceed to the International Office Department with a copy of your police report and a letter from the Embassy as the support document to obtain your new student pass sticker for your new passport.
  4. Please be reminded that you are required to carry your passport at all times when travelling in Malaysia.

Emergency Assistance

The International Office ensures support for international students during emergencies, addressing health concerns, safety issues, or other crises. This includes providing guidance, connecting students with relevant authorities or medical services, and ensuring a responsive communication channel.
