RAFFLES UNIVERSITY x SUTERA MALL SPOTLIGHT OVER 30 EMERGING DESIGNERS AT THE RAFFLES DESIGN GRADUATE SHOW
Johor Bahru, 23 November 2024 – The Faculty of Arts & Design at Raffles University was thrilled to announce the graduate show, In the Spotlight: Raffles Design Show 2024, which will be held at Sutera Mall from 22 to 24 November 2024. This event celebrates the next generation of creative pioneers in Johor Bahru, showcasing their remarkable achievements and limitless potential while promoting the growth of arts and design within the local community.
In collaboration with Sutera Mall, over 30 Raffles Designers presented their works across various disciplines, including Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, and Fashion Design, during this three-day event. The exhibition also featured presentations, inviting the public to engage with and provide feedback on the designs created by these emerging talents.
The opening ceremony took place on 23 November at 5:30 PM, featuring Associate Professor Greg Pritchard, President of Raffles University, alongside representatives from Sutera Mall. During the ceremony, Raffles University and Sutera Mall signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking the beginning of a significant collaboration aimed at fostering future partnerships between academia and industry.
To further engage the community, a group of Raffles University students had produced a zine focusing on Pekan Nanas, showcasing the unique attractions in Johor while reminding locals of the area’s rich cultural heritage.
A special thanks to Sutera Mall for their unwavering support, not only for providing the venue but for sharing in our vision of spotlighting young designers from Johor Bahru. Route 27 Zine Exhibition
Route 27: A Journey Through the Pekan Nanas Zine Exhibition
Step aboard a creative voyage along Route 27, named after the 27-mile distance between Johor Bahru and Pekan Nanas. In collaboration with Tekan Studio and Raffles University, this zine exhibition invites visitors on a nostalgic bus journey, where each stop unveils a unique zine with its own story to tell. Featuring 24 zines created by students from Raffles University’s Bachelor of Graphic Design (Honorus) and Bachelor of Multimedia Design (Honours) programmes, the exhibition captures the spirit of Pekan Nanas’ culture and lifestyle. Merging the town’s rich heritage with modern creativity, this immersive experience bridges the past and present, offering a fresh perspective on Pekan Nanas through innovative student expressions.
