Raffles University Participates in MIID Varsity Dialogue 7.0 on Malaysia Interior Design Body of Knowledge

Raffles University participated in MIID Varsity Dialogue 7.0, held on 16 August 2025 at Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT), Kuala Lumpur.

The dialogue, themed “Developing the Malaysia Interior Design Body of Knowledge (IDBoK)”, formed part of a national initiative focused on developing a contextualised and comprehensive body of knowledge for Interior Design in Malaysia.

Representing Raffles University, the Interior Design Programme Director participated in the dialogue and Focus Group Discussion.

Developing the Malaysia Interior Design Body of Knowledge

The initiative was spearheaded by MIID, together with academic institutions and industry partners, with the aim of developing the Malaysia Interior Design Body of Knowledge (IDBoK).

The framework is intended to serve as a reference for academic curriculum, accreditation standards and professional competencies in Malaysia.

Bringing Academic Perspectives into the Dialogue

As part of MIID Varsity Dialogue 7.0, participating academic representatives joined thematic Focus Group Discussions alongside representatives from other institutions of higher learning and the industry.

Guided by a facilitator, the discussions provided a platform for participants to contribute their perspectives to the development of the Malaysia IDBoK.

Raffles University’s Interior Design Programme Director participated as one of the academic representatives involved in the discussion.

Connecting Interior Design Education and Industry

MIID Varsity Dialogue 7.0 brought together academic institutions and industry representatives as part of the initiative to develop the Malaysia Interior Design Body of Knowledge.

Raffles University’s participation in MIID Varsity Dialogue 7.0 provided an opportunity to take part in the Focus Group Discussion on the development of the Malaysia Interior Design Body of Knowledge, with its focus on academic curriculum, accreditation standards and professional competencies in Malaysia.
