Mall of Medini Building Tour and Site Analysis

Interior Design Students Gain Industry Exposure Through Mall of Medini Building Tour and Site Analysis

On 12 September 2025, Raffles University Interior Design students took their learning beyond the classroom through a Building Tour and Site Analysis at Mall of Medini, gaining practical exposure to a real-world built environment.

The activity formed part of a Student & Industry Collaboration, providing students with an opportunity to connect their Interior Design studies with an actual site and develop their understanding through direct observation and analysis.

Taking Interior Design Learning on Site

The building tour provided students with an opportunity to experience and observe a real environment beyond the classroom.

Through the site analysis, students were able to approach Mall of Medini from an Interior Design perspective, connecting their academic learning with observations made within an existing built environment.

This on-site learning experience provided a practical context for students to further explore their understanding of Interior Design.

Connecting Students with Industry

The activity also highlighted the importance of student and industry collaboration in creating learning opportunities beyond conventional classroom settings.

By participating in an industry-related site visit, students gained exposure to a professional environment while experiencing how learning can extend into real-world settings.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

The Mall of Medini Building Tour and Site Analysis reflects the value of combining academic learning with practical exposure.

Through activities such as building tours, site analysis and industry engagement, Interior Design students are given opportunities to observe, explore and connect their studies with real environments, supporting a more practical approach to their learning journey.
