Beyond Barriers Day

Beyond Barriers Day at Raffles University: Embracing Diversity and Inclusion

At Raffles University, we believe in the power of education and community service to break down barriers and create a more inclusive society. On the 8th of November, students from the Interior Design programme, who are participating in the co-curriculum module, organised a Beyond Barriers Day. This day was dedicated to raising awareness about disabilities and fostering a sense of unity among Raffles students and staff. This event is aimed at promoting understanding and compassion for individuals facing various disabilities. The initiative not only reflects our dedication to making a positive impact but also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all.

Disabilities Exhibition & Experiencing Booth

The highlight of the day was our Disabilities Exhibition & Experiencing Booth, where participants had the opportunity to learn more about different types of disabilities, including physical, sensory, cognitive, and mental health conditions. The booth featured informative displays on conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Visual Impairment, and Hearing Impairment.

Participants gained insights into the challenges faced by individuals with these conditions and discovered ways to promote inclusivity in our daily lives. The exhibition emphasised the importance of understanding and empathy, reinforcing our commitment to creating a campus environment that is welcoming and supportive for everyone.

Raffles University’s Commitment to Inclusion

Beyond Barriers Day showcased Raffles University’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment in Raffles University. As we reflect on Beyond Barriers Day, we are proud to contribute to the creation of a campus culture that goes beyond academic excellence, valuing diversity and inclusion as essential pillars of Raffles University’s educational mission.
