DR CHAI WEN JIA
Faculty Dean of Social Sciences;
Dr Chai Wen Jia is a graduate of Psychology and holds a doctoral degree in Neuroscience (Neurosc.D) from Universiti Sains Malaysia. With an affinity for the study of cognition, her academic journey began with the investigation of cognitive fallacies, which developed into a fascination towards the human brain that compelled her to the field of neuroscience. She employed functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) in her doctoral project to study the working memory of patients with traumatic brain injury. In her pursuit of uncovering the secrets of the brain and its relationship with human behaviour, Dr Chai further completed her postdoctoral training in the neurorehabilitation of patients with subacute stroke. She investigated the adoption of robotic device in the gait training of patients. Having spent a decade in the academic setting, she has assumed multiple academic roles, including graduate tutor, cognitive skills trainer, university lecturer, as well as researcher. Dr Chai’s research interests lie in cognitive neuroscience, positive psychology, and understanding the brain-behaviour relationship. She endeavours to unite mental wellness and brain health.
