Discovering Singapore Design Week on an Interesting Field Trip
Recently, students from the 视觉传达设计大专文凭 and Bachelor of Graphic Design (Honours) at 莱佛士大学 艺术与设计系 went on a field trip for the Singapore Design Week. Let’s take a look at the interesting things our students did at some important places during this trip.
Station 1: National Design Centre Atrium – Playground of Possibilities
At the National Design Centre, our design students dived headfirst into the ‘Playground of Possibilities’ exhibition curated by Jackson Tan. They showcased 12 design projects tackling contemporary challenges with innovative solutions. The students explored the intersection of creativity and problem-solving. The exhibition was a testament to how designers can transform problems into opportunities and dream up a better world.
Station 2: Institution of Fine Arts – Next of Kin & A New Wake Design Experience
At the Institution of Fine Arts, our design students thought about climate change in a special exhibition called ‘Next of Kin.’ This gave our design students a chance to understand how nature getting harmed affects people.
Station 3: College of the Arts – FI&LD and Encounters 2.0
The exhibition at the College of the Arts showcased innovative design concepts and creative perspectives. Our students gained a deeper understanding that design extends beyond the creation of physical objects; it encompasses the overall experience, the design process, and our perception of the world.
Raffles students were not just passive observers but active participants in the dynamic world of design. They engaged with groundbreaking concepts, experienced hands on interactive exhibitions, and were inspired by the innovative solutions presented at Singapore Design Week. This field trip has broadened their perspectives, fostering a deeper appreciation for the transformative power of design in shaping a better future.
As they return from this enriching journey, our design students carry with them not only memories of Singapore’s design brilliance but also a renewed passion for pushing the boundaries of creativity and problem-solving.
