Shines as First Runner Up in Battle of Minds 2023
At 莱佛士大学, we take immense pride in celebrating the remarkable achievements of our students. We are glad to share some incredible news with all of you. Raffles Students emerged as the First Runner Up in the Battle of Minds 2023 business pitch competition held in Kuala Lumpur by 4 Sep 2023. This significant accomplishment is a testament to the dedication, creativity, and collaborative spirit of our students.
A Multidisciplinary Triumph: What makes this achievement even more remarkable is the composition of the winning team. Comprising students from diverse academic backgrounds, the RU team showcased the power of cross-disciplinary collaboration. The team included students from:
- Kosshini A/P Arumugam, from 商业学学士（会计）（荣誉学位）
- Tan Chian Yee (Lydia), from Bachelor of Fashion Design(Honours)
- Wong Zi Ki, from Bachelor of Multimedia Design (Honours)
- Lee Wan Yu, from Bachelor of Graphics Design(Honours)
Under the guidance of the visionary Dr Tan Hui Siang, this dynamic team came together to work on a groundbreaking business project. Their journey was further enriched by the support of Ms Wong Shir Ling and Dr Logenthini Mariappan.

The Battle of Minds 2023 competition brought together some of the brightest young minds from across the region, Raffles’ representative rose to the challenge with unwavering determination and a brilliant business concept.
Their project is crafted and passionately presented, impressed the judges and left a lasting mark on the competition. It not only showcased their individual talents but also exemplified the power of synergy when students from different disciplines collaborate.

The First Runner Up prize in Battle of Minds 2023 is a testament to the fact that Raffles students are not just well-equipped with knowledge but also possess the skills and mindset for industrial ready.
Under the visionary leadership of Dr Tan Hui Siang, RU team has come out with a groundbreaking business venture specializing in the development of innovative solutions for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Their flagship product, the GuardWatch Smartwatch, has been designed with a deep sense of purpose and dedication. This innovative endeavor was nurtured and further enriched by the unwavering support of Ms Wong Shir Ling and Dr Logenthini Mariappan. The project came as part of the BBA32144 course Entrepreneurship & New Business Development Pitch Presentation at Raffles University. As the presenters passionately showcased their business idea to a panel of judges, which included an external expert, they demonstrated the uniqueness of their concept and its potential for success. This initial presentation served as a springboard for their participation in the Battle of Minds 2023 competition, where they present with their visionary approach with innovative solution for children with ASD, leaving an indelible mark on the competition and highlighting the power of interdisciplinary collaboration.
