FIELDTRIP
RUID's Field Trip to Kuala Lumpur & DaiKin
[5-7 June 2022]
Raffles University Interior Design Club (RUID) organised a field trip with 29 Raffles Students from 室内设计学士(荣誉学位) and 室内设计大专文凭 to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The field trip is led by iDR Mohd Khedzir bin KHAMIS, the programme director of interior design programmes, Ms Aleksandra Lyubomirova VENKOVA and MR. Muhammad Syukri Bin ABDULLAH SANI, the lecturers of Interior Design Programmes.
Learning Experiences from the Fieldtrip
- To let the students, experience a real-life showroom visit and tour by a leading air conditioning provider in Malaysia, while learning about A/C application in design.
- To brief the students on DAIKIN’s 3rd Youth design competition – “Utopia in the City”
- To explore commercial retail and hospitality environment and strengthen brand understanding, concept execution, and material and colour application in Interior Design.
- To expand students spatial and cultural awareness in design and highlight current trends within the interior design industry.
- To offer a chance to get together and socialize while strengthening the interior design community within RU.
The trip is partly sponsored by Raffles University as a support for the Raffles Interior Designers students for field trips.

DUSUN OpenHOUSE | Newly opened Balinese style restaurant, that combines elements of traditional and contemporary architecture |
Kloe hotel | A boutique hotel that celebrates the pursuit of music, art, food, reading, and gardening. The hotel offers a variety of space to explore-lobby, café, restaurant, reception, and common public spaces. |
Suria KLCC & Pavilion | Excellent environment for observing circulation patterns in space planning, expanding knowledge of environmental systems, furniture, display techniques, materials, and finishes. |
GMBB – The Back Room KL | Excellent to explore the many and diverse elements of gallery exhibition including design brief, programming (concept development, ideation, and design development.); communication with the visitor; problem-solving and creativity; accessibility and universal design exhibition elements. |
Daikin showroom | Daikin perfects its art of ‘air technology’ through the design of the showroom using deconstructed elements. Excellent examples of lighting design, façade design, retail window display and brand identity image. |
