Empowering Our Campus: Raffles University Staff Complete 2-Day First Aid & CPR Training
In any emergency, the first few minutes are the most critical. Having the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to step in can mean the difference between a minor incident and a tragedy.
To reinforce campus safety and elevate emergency preparedness, Raffles University recently hosted a dedicated 2-day First Aid & CPR Training on 26 and 27 August 2026. Facilitated by experts from the Malaysian Red Crescent, the intensive 14-hour certified programme brought together 13 dedicated staff members for hands-on, life-saving instruction.
Mastering Essential Life-Saving Skills
The comprehensive syllabus combined solid theoretical foundations with realistic practical simulations to ensure participants were ready for real-world scenarios. Key modules covered across the two days included:
Basic Life Support & CPR:
Step-by-step techniques for adult, child, and infant resuscitation.
AED Operations:
Best practices for using an Automated External Defibrillator during cardiac arrest.
Soft Tissue & Wound Management:
Protocols for treating severe bleeding, burns, scalds, and amputation injuries.
Musculoskeletal Care:
Proper handling of fractures, sprains, and spinal trauma.
Patient Assessment & Transport:
Evaluating emergency scenes safely and executing proper lifting techniques.
Participants were put to the test on the final day through both written and practical assessments to earn their official 3-year Competency Certificates from the Malaysian Red Crescent.
Building a Safer Campus Environment
At Raffles University, prioritising health and safety extends beyond policies—it requires active preparation. By training our staff to react swiftly and effectively in crisis situations, we take a proactive step towards maintaining a secure environment for students, colleagues, and visitors alike. We extend our sincere appreciation to the Malaysian Red Crescent for their exceptional guidance, and we congratulate our staff members for stepping up to become certified first responders on campus!
