Raffles University Students Participate in Festival Seni Bina Johor 2025

Students from the Faculty of Built Environment & Regenerative Design at Raffles University took part in Festival Seni Bina (FSB) Johor 2025, held from 28 to 30 November 2025 at Desaru Coast Riverside, Pengerang, Johor.

Jointly organised by Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia Southern Chapter (PAMSo) and Majlis Perbandaran Pengerang (MPP), the festival brought together architects, planners, engineers, developers, policymakers and students to celebrate creativity, innovation and sustainable design within the built environment.

Exploring the Future of the Built Environment

Festival Seni Bina Johor 2025 carried the theme “Let’s TOD Our Way: Unlocking the Future of Connectivity, Convenience, Community and Heritage”.

As part of the festival programme, 20 students from Raffles University’s Faculty of Built Environment & Regenerative Design were invited to participate in a series of Parallel Events on 29 November 2025, specially curated to enhance creative and experiential learning.

The workshops were designed to provide hands-on learning experiences, encouraging students to explore creativity, develop practical skills and engage directly with professionals from the built environment industry.

Showcasing Student Creativity

Raffles University students were also invited to exhibit their architectural works during the festival, with PAMSo providing five A1-sized panels for the University’s exhibition display.

The exhibition opportunity was designed to provide students with a platform to present their design ideas to a wider professional audience and showcase their creativity beyond the university environment.

Connecting with the Built Environment Industry

Beyond the workshops and exhibition opportunities, the festival offered students exposure to real-world event coordination and management, as well as direct engagement with professional architects, designers and practitioners.

The programme also provided insights into sustainable design, architectural innovation and urban development, together with opportunities to network and build connections within the architecture and design community.

Students were also invited to participate as volunteers, supporting event operations and the smooth flow of activities while gaining experience that could strengthen teamwork, communication and leadership skills.

Extending Learning Beyond the Classroom

The Financial Literacy and Scam Prevention Talk provided attendees with an opportunity to learn more about managing money and staying safe online.

Through the session, participants strengthened their awareness of personal finance, financial management and online safety, reinforcing the value of practical knowledge that can be applied in everyday life.
