Death Shall Not Be The End
Designer: Gally CHAN Chiaa Wei
The designer created this collection based on the experience of the death of loved ones. Death made the designer wonder how to bring one from the dead to reunite, even though it is against nature. This led the designer to choose Chinese ghost marriage to explore further this unnatural topic practised by ancient Chinese 3000 years ago. Chinese ghost marriage is a marriage in which one or both parties are deceased and still practised by the Chinese in rural China and some part of southeast Asia. This collection contains elements of traditional Chinese funeral and marriage customs, the Great Qing Dynasty architecture and fashion, and fashion of old Shanghai glamour during the 1920s until the 1930’s.
