IGNITE SHOWCASE 2019

Raffles University successfully ‘ignites’ the creativity, talent and passion of the Johor Bahru Community! In the 3-day event, RU’s IGNITE Showcase was held at Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru on 18th – 20th October 2019.

The IGNITE Showcase was a significant milestone of Raffles University as it was the very first public student showcase in the JB community. It was also the first major event after the Raffles University was officially renamed from Raffles University Iskandar.

“I hope that this showcase will encourage more students to pursue their dreams and bring up the art and culture of the state of Johor, and in align of the vision of the state government to achieve the goal of 17.4 million visitors next year.” – YB  Leow Cai Tong.

THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE IGNITE SHOWCASE WAS THE FASHION RUNWAY SHOW.

Over 90 masterpieces that were created by Raffles Designers had successfully walked on the stage of IGNITE Fashion Runway Show.

Additionally, 3 awards and competitions were presented: Raffles International Avant Garde Fashion Award, Raffles Recycled Furniture Design Award and Raffles Figurative Art Competition. These competitions attracted many local and international talents.

On top of this, Raffles University prepared several workshops in the IGNITE Showcase for the public to participate.

(1) Business Stock Trading Competition
(2) VR & cognitive game
(3) AI and robotics workshop
(4) string art workshop,
(5) T-shirt printing
(6) English Language Carnival

IGNITE SHOWCASE HAD 4 OBJECTIVES

(1) to show the Raffles students’ works,
(2) to stimulate the teenagers’ creativity potential,
(3) to promote tertiary education channel and
(4) to encourage lifelong learning.

In align with the objectives, the Raffles students’ works across faculties were seen in the IGNITE Showcase exhibition area.
