Bridging Cultures and Knowledge: A Journey Through the Global Exchange Programme at Raffles University
At Raffles University, education extends far beyond traditional classroom boundaries. Through our Global Exchange Programme, managed by the 莱佛士专业发展中心, we welcome international students to experience high-quality academic growth, cross-cultural immersion, and unforgettable memories at our Medini Campus in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, Malaysia.
Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of hosting Jeon Juhyun, a Business Administration student from Hansei University in South Korea, for a three-month exchange journey running from January to April. Having completed her studies and safely returned home on 15 April 2026, her journey highlights the transformative power of international educational mobility.
“I want to come back again. At first, I hesitated because of the language barrier, but as my English improved and I built close friendships, it became hard to leave. Given the chance, I would love to return.”
— Jeon Juhyun, Exchange Student from Hansei University
What is the Inbound Mobility Programme?
The Inbound Mobility Programme offers international students from partner institutions around the world the opportunity to spend a semester studying at Raffles University.
Academic Structure: Runs across three 12-to-15-week semesters annually (January–April, May–August, and September–December). Classes are taught face-to-face in English.
Accommodation & Support: To ensure a comfortable stay, Raffles University recommends Hako Village as the preferred off-campus accommodation.
1. Practical Learning & Presentation Confidence
Coming from a business background in Korea, Juhyun chose Raffles University for its practical, hands-on curriculum. Participating in team-based projects and classroom discussions helped her overcome initial language barriers, sharpening her English fluency and public speaking confidence. Lecturers and local peers provided dedicated support to ensure a seamless academic experience.
2. Cultural Immersion & Campus Life
Beyond academics, student life in Iskandar Puteri provided Juhyun with rich cultural exposure. From adapting to campus life at Medini to forming lasting friendships, her stay was filled with memorable milestones. Following the term, the Student Affairs department organized a guided Johor Bahru excursion with local student leaders, allowing exchange participants to explore heritage sites and local history.
3. Simple Application Process
Joining the exchange programme follows a clear four-step pathway:
Nomination: Coordinators contact RUCPD (cpd@Raffles-University.edu.my).
Module Selection: Students choose approved subjects for credit transfer.
Offer Letter & Visa: Raffles University assists with official offer documentation and Malaysian Student Visa processing.
Arrival: Students arrive in Malaysia for orientation and class commencement.
Ready to Start Your Global Journey?
Juhyun’s advice to prospective exchange students is simple: “Don’t hesitate—come and experience it directly for yourself!”
