Students Put Social Responsibility into Practice
Raffles University Students Bring Learning into the Community
Social responsibility becomes more meaningful when learning moves beyond theory and into real-world action.
As part of the MPU 3182 Penghayatan Etika dan Peradaban course, Raffles University students explored the concept of individual social responsibility and its role in building a caring, inclusive and responsible society.
The learning experience was complemented by a community engagement activity at Pertubuhan Kebajikan Shan De, Johor Bahru, where students had the opportunity to interact with the children and contribute through activities including a mini tea party, interactive group activities and contributions of donated items.
Through the experience, students were encouraged to reflect on the roles individuals can play in their communities and the importance of empathy, cooperation and social awareness. More importantly, the activity provided an opportunity to translate classroom discussions on ethics and social responsibility into meaningful action.
At Raffles University, learning extends beyond academic knowledge. Experiences such as this encourage students to understand their responsibilities as individuals and recognise how small actions can contribute positively to the wider community.
