A Testimonial by Donna Mc Meredith
Meet Donna Indrawati Mc Meredith from Master of Education
A dedicated HR professional and mother of two, Donna is currently pursuing her Master of Education through Raffles University’s Open Distance Learning (ODL) mode. Enrolled in the January 2025 intake, her research focuses on “Enhancing Adult Learning and Engagement in Training Practices Using the Multiple Intelligence Framework: A Study on the Retail Industry.”
The Master of Education at Raffles University combines coursework and research in a flexible mixed-mode format. Designed for aspiring educators and training professionals, the programme equips students with the knowledge and skills to lead in modern education—balancing theory, innovation, and real-world application. Through ODL, students like Donna can manage work, family, and study with weekly online consultations and access to resources via the Learning Management System (LMS).
Q1. Can you introduce yourself?
I’m Donna Mc Meredith, Group HR Head at my company and a proud mother of two. I’ve always had a deep passion for learning, but balancing it with work and family life was difficult. When I discovered the Master of Education offered through Raffles University’s Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode, it felt like the right fit. I wanted to continue growing both personally and professionally without having to put my life on hold.
Q2: What were your first impressions of the programme, and how has your experience been so far?
Right from the start, I was impressed by how thoughtfully the programme was designed, especially for working adults. It was practical, relevant, and made complex theories feel meaningful and applicable to real-life situations. The overall experience has been rewarding. Of course, managing time between work, family, and study is never easy—but the flexibility of the ODL and the supportive faculty have made it a smooth and enriching journey.
Q3: How has the programme impacted you professionally and personally?
The learning journey has sharpened my thinking—not just as a student, but as an HR leader. It gave me valuable insights into adult learning, emotional intelligence, diverse learning styles, and effective communication. These are not only key in educational contexts but are also critical in creating inclusive, growth-oriented workplace environments. The programme has enhanced my ability to support the development of others while also deepening my own.
Q4: How do you plan to apply what you've learned in your career moving forward?
I plan to apply these insights to improve adult learning initiatives within my organisation. Whether it’s designing better training programmes or fostering a culture of continuous learning, the knowledge I’ve gained has strengthened my approach to professional development and talent support across the board.
Q5: Would you recommend this programme to others, especially educators or working professionals?
My biggest concern was time—finding the capacity to juggle study with work and family. But once I got started, I found that the way the programme is structured really supports balance. Having that flexibility made all the difference and showed me that pursuing further education is possible even with a packed schedule.

Q7: Any final thoughts or memorable moments you’d like to share?
I’m incredibly grateful for this learning journey. One of the most memorable takeaways for me is the sense of community and support—even in a distance learning environment. It’s a reminder that lifelong learning is not just about gaining knowledge—it’s about growing with purpose, and inspiring others along the way.
