Congratulation to our Raffles Fashion Designer – Miss Au Jie Min for winning the 4th prize in the Sakura Collection Asia Student Awards in Malaysia 2020!
Sakura Collection Asia Student Awards is a competition that aims to unleash the potential young fashion student in Asia. It is being held for the 8th consecutive year in conjunction with Sakura Collection Japan 2020. It is held separately in other Asia countries including Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar. The theme of this competition was “Japan”, where the participants are required to undergo the fashion design process including design sketches, mood board and fabrication board to create a collection of garments that themed Japan. Our Raffles Fashion Designer – Miss Au Jie Min (first year Raffles student in Bachelor of Fashion Design(Honours)) and her classmates took the initiative to participate in this prestigious event She was selected as the top 10 finalists of The Malaysia Grand Prix.
In the Malaysia Grand Prix, the participants are judged based on the (1) Interpretation of “Japan”, (2) Quality and Originality and (3) Enthusiasm. In the Malaysia Grand Prix that was held in Tebrau Aeon on 4 January 2020, Jie Min presented 3 garments that themed Bushida – Samurai and she won the 4th prize in The Malaysia Grand Prix!
