    Prof. Dr. Graeme BRITTON
    Raffles University President

    Professor Dr. Graeme Britton is a New Zealand national with 40 years of experience working in public and private universities in Finland, Malaysia, New Zealand and Singapore. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (hons), a PhD and a higher doctorate, the Doctor of Engineering, from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (UK).

    Prof. Britton is an expert in conducting applied research in industry, including company-specific projects, national projects, and international collaborative research projects. His research has focused on the design of management and computer-aided systems for engineering companies using systems methodologies and General Graph Theoretic Methods. He has published 100 refereed papers in top journals and international conferences, 8 book chapters and 2 books. He has consulted to companies in Australia, Finland, New Zealand and Singapore in the areas of quality assurance, design and manufacturing. He won the Walsh Memorial Award in 1970 and was twice a member of educational teams to win the prestigious CASA/SME Award (Singapore in 1992 and Finland in 2002).

    Professor Britton has been responsible for setting up Raffles University and positioning it as a university-of-the-future. He is an executive member of the Vice Chancellor’s Committee for Private Universities (Malaysia).

    Dr. TAN Wee Chuen
    Raffles University Campus Dean

    Dr. Tan has worked in tertiary education institutions for over 20 years within education research, teaching, management and leadership. She has extensive work experience in both academic and management positions. Dr. Tan holds a PhD in Educational Technology, a Master degree in Education and a Bachelor Degree in Science and Computer with Education.

    As a researcher in education, Dr. Tan conducted extensive research in educational technology and has published these findings in various publications including books, proceedings and journal papers. As a lecturer, she had applied various pedagogies at the  higher education level to promote students’ learning, which have been shared in conferences and journals. These experiences have led Dr. Tan to become a prominent trainer in pedagogy and providing guidance to academic staff in teaching and learning. She is a Certified Trainer under Human Resources Development Fund Malaysia.  She is also appointed as a Panel Assessor for the Malaysia Qualification Agency.

    Dr. CHOI Sang Long
    Business Programme Director of Business, Associate Professor

    Dr.Choi has been working in the corporate sector for over 18 years before embarking in the field of education. He was appointed as senior managerial positions in several local and multi- national companies in retailing, financial and manufacturing sector. He is a Certified Advance HR Practitioner (CAHRP) by the Malaysia Institute of HRM. He is also a Certified Trainer / HR consultant by PSMB. He obtained his PhD specializing in Management from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2011.

    He has published more than 100 manuscripts in various international indexed journals (ISI/ Scopus), book chapters and proceedings. His research papers are widely cited internationally (Scopus H Index = 8 / Google Scholar H index = 21). His research interest is in the area of Human Resources Management and Organizational Behavior. He has been an examiner and supervisor for PhD students since 2011.  He also served as a Panel Assessor for Malaysia Qualification Agency, Education Ministry since 2010.

    Mr. Alex TAN Wei Kian
    Design Programme Director of Art & Design; Senior Lecturer

    Mr Alex’s main interest is in developing dynamic teaching method to enrich students’ learning experiences by associating theory with practical experience such as live exhibitions, visiting companies, collaborating with industry partners and organizing field trip. He is passionate about motivating students to participate in activities and competitions to develop their self-confidence and their interest in learning and critical thinking.

    Mr Alex has also been appointed as the chairperson for the Board of Teaching & Learning for Raffles University. He obtained his MSc in Multimedia from Multimedia University in 2011, specialising in interactive installation, user experience, web development, new media, media innovation, motion graphic, sustainable design, augmented reality and gamification.

    He received his Bmm (Hons) Creative Multimedia majoring in Digital Media from Multimedia University in 2005. He has 13 years of teaching experience at Multimedia University, Raffles Design Institute (Shanghai), Taylor’s University and Raffles University since 2006. He is in charge of the Learning Management System (LMS) for several campuses under the Raffles Education Group. Mr Alex has also worked in the industry since 2005 and manages his own multimedia company which focuses on web design, web/app development and consultancy.

    Dr. Sasa ARSOVSKI
    Business Programme Director of AI and Robotic; Senior Lecturer

    With more than twenty years’ experience as an AI and IT developer, Dr Sasa Arsovski has received a Ph.D. from the Department of Applied Computer Science and Informatics, Faculty of Technical Science, University Novi Sad, Serbia. Since 2004 he has been working as an independent associate for the development of ICT in the Guarantee Fund of AP Vojvodina, as a visiting Professor at multiple universities (inc. International University in Novi Pazar, Serbia and University Novi Sad, Serbia). He was also the Lab Vice Director and AI researcher at the Imagineering Institute in Johor.

    Dr Sasa Arsovski has received an award by the Union of ICT Societies of Serbia (JISA, DISKOBOLOS 2009) and author of the books “Decision support and strategic planning ontologies” and “Deep Learning Applications”. He is a member or chief editor of multiple boards including: Informing Science Institute’ (USA);‘Multimodal Technologies and Interaction-MTI international journal’;‘Transactions on Leading-edge Synergistic Robots international journal’; MTI’s “Deep Learning” special issue; Program Chair-ACE international conference (2017); 2018 International Conference on Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence – USA; Academy of Science – Malaysia; and National Machine Learning initiative group.

    Dr Sasa Arsovski is a highly recognized AI researcher in the field of computer vision in the industrial quality control, object detection, image understanding and genetic algorithms in the text processing for neural network chatbots.

    Mr. Hanafi AHMAD
    Business Programme Director of Supply Chain Management; Lecturer

    Mr Hanafi Ahmad is the Program Director at Raffles University. He’s main expertise is within Economics, Business, Maritime Safety and Security,  Supply Chain and Safety Management. He worked in the logistics and transport industry for over 16 years (manufacturing, freight management and warehousing) and 6 years in education.

    He is currently completing his PhD in Supply Chain Management in Halal at UMT (University Malaysia Terengganu) and holds an MBA in Logistics Management – Transportations management from Unisel (University Industry Selangor) and a Bachelor of Economics (Hos.) majoring in Business Studies from UPM (University Putra Malaysia)

    Mr. Mohd Khedzir Bin KHAMIS
    Design Programme Director of Interior Design; Lecturer

    Mr. Mohd Khedzir is the Program Director of Interior Design Programme at Raffles University (RU). He has joined the RU family in 2016. Prior to joining Raffles, he obtained his Diploma in Interior Design from Institut Teknologi MARA (ITM). Even though active in the industries, he pursues his BSc of Housing, Building and Planning majoring in Interior Design from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 1999.

    He entered the education field in 2002 when he joined MARA Youth Junior College (MRSM) as an art teacher and in 2003, he joined Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) as a lecturer until 2015, while completing his MA in Visual Communication in 2007. His passion in research involves museum spatial, circulation design and heritage studies. He did quite a few academic research pieces and published in several journal and proceedings.

    Despite his activities as an academic, he is also active in the professional body. Currently, he is a registered member of Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM) Interior Designers, Corporate Members of Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID) and recently as an accreditation panel member of Council of Architectural Accreditation and Education Malaysia (CAEM) Board of Architect Malaysia for Interior Design Programme.

    Ms. Jennifer KONG
    Design Programme Director of Fashion Design; Senior Lecturer

    Ms Jennifer Kong worked in the fashion industry in London for 15 years, before embarking in the field of education. She was a graduate of Central St. Martins and London College of Fashion from the University of Arts London with a first-class BA Hons degree in Fashion Design and Technology Womenswear. She also gained a Postgraduate degree in Garment Technology and Pattern Cutting in 2011.

    Her varied experiences include working for luxury international design companies in London and Europe in design, production and manufacturing, as well as having her own fashion business. She has also worked as a freelance consultant in connection with new brands and concepts.Her experiences and expertise, including design concepts, fabric, colour palettes, design development, two-dimensional cutting, modelling on the stand, patterns, garment fitting and construction, textile placement and manufacturing.

    She is currently a Programme Director for Fashion, which looks after the running and progressing of the Fashion programme. Her teaching expertise includes specialist skills in final year major projects, pattern cutting and surface embellishment on design led projects, garment technology and production. Her successful supervision of Final Collections and Pre-Collection projects by final year students have attracted public attention. She was invited and participated in Malaysia largest TV Astro, Astro Star Quest (Asia), Astro The Voice (Asia), Vouch Magazine, Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week, YKK awards, Colden Scissors Awards Singapore, AirAsia Runway Designer Search Awards, Redress Design Awards, Graduate International Fashion awards and many more.

    Dr. Samuel CHAN Hsin Chlen
    Psychology Programme Director of Psychology; Senior Lecturer

    Dr. Samuel Chan is a Program Director and the University Counsellor at Raffles University.

    Dr. Chan has a BA in Psychology from California State University, a Master of Human & Organizational Development from Azusa Pacific University, and a PhD in Guidance and Counselling from University Technology Malaysia.

    He has additional roles as a Managing Director in Family Keepers Malaysia, the Chief Editor in “Family Keepers Bi-Monthly Magazine” and a member of the Board of Directors for SJK (2015-2020). He is also an Adjunct Lecturer in Malaysia Bible Seminary.

    Ms. LIEW Tze Siew
    Foundation Programme Director of Foundation Programme; Lecturer

    Ms Liew is currently the Programme Director for the English Language and the Foundation in Liberal Arts Programme at Raffles University. She holds a Masters of TESOL and has six years of experience in designing teaching and learning materials as well as teaching pre-U and undergraduate students in various types of English courses that include General English, IELTS Reading and Writing, English for Academic Purposes, Learning/ Study Skills, Business Communication, English for Communication, Critical Thinking and Intro to Liberal Arts.

    As an English lecturer, she constantly strives to incorporate interactive activities and discussions for the students in the language classroom. She also believes in having students’ best interests at heart while teaching but at the same time also imparting the necessary life-long learning skills and motivating students in what she teaches.

    Ms. Joanne CHING Yann Peng
    Accountancy Programme Director of Accountancy; Lecturer

    Ms Joanne Ching received a Masters of Business Administration (specialised in Finance) from the Feng Chia University, Taiwan and a Bachelors of Commerce (Finance) from Queensland University of Technology, Australia.

    In 2016, she joined Raffles University where she is currently the Programme Director for the Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours), Foundation in Business Studies and Diploma in Business Studies programmes. Her main research interests include banks performance, macroeconomics, and corporate finance. She has taught courses on Financial Management, Corporate Finance, International Finance, and Economics at all levels. Her research has been published in The Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance, The International Business Review, and The International Journal of Finance.

    Ms. Thivya A/P ASOKAN
    Foundation Lecturer

    Ms Thivya is a committed English Language lecturer with 7 years of experience at various Malaysian academic institutions teaching students from different cultural and social backgrounds. She possesses effective teaching methods that promote invigorating learning environment and often incorporates English language activities that are hands-on, authentic and interactive to strengthen on classroom learning.

    She constantly provides feedback and guidance to help students to enhance their language skills. She is also willing to take initiate to improve the quality of teaching methods if required. Hardworking & dedicated, Thivya is willing to put in extra time to learn and accomplish a task. Not only that, she is also an independent and dynamic team player and able to communicate with all levels. She strongly believes in the concept of “English beyond the classroom” as it assists students to become better English language learners.

    Mr. Muhammad Syukri Bin ABDULLAH SANI
    Design Lecturer

    Since 2012, Syukri has been a lecturer at Raffles University and is currently teaching the Interior Design Programme. Trained as an architect with a Part II qualification, he has gained various industry experience including working with Razin Architects, Yonezawa Architects in Japan and other freelancing projects. His area of expertise includes technological experimentation and innovation, as well as guiding creative ideas towards inventive concept designs.

    At Raffles University, Syukri’s teaching area are mainly in design fundamentals, both for Diploma in Interior Design and Bachelor of Interior Design (Hons) programmes. This includes modules such as design principles, basic CAD and 3D modelling as well as creativity subjects. He also engages in various design studio modules, mainly focusing on ideas development and technical aspects of interior design. Syukri also contributes towards developing students’ career skills and managing the Design Workshop as well as curating the Interior Design Gallery.

    Syukri has also engaged in research and projects related to latest virtual reality (VR) technology for architectural design. In June 2016, Syukri published a research paper that won the Best Paper Award at the Proceedings of 22nd IASTEM International Conference in Tokyo, Japan. In this paper, he highlights that virtual reality technology could be assembled by architecture students easily and as low as zero dollar. As a result, Syukri are able to setup and operate virtual reality technology such as Oculus Rift and Google Cardboard specifically for the need of architecture and design students.

    Dr. Muhammad Faizal Bin ABDUL RANI
    Design Lecturer

    Dr. Muhammad Faizal Bin Abdul Rani is a lecturer in the Interior Design Program. He joined Raffles University in 2017. He specializes in Thai Design concentrating on Lanna art, culture and architecture and Thai Buddhism.

    Dr. Faizal has a Ph.D. in Thai studies from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, a M.Sc. in Building Technology and Construction from the University of Malaya, and a B.Sc. HBP in Interior Design from the University of Science Malaysia. He has been teaching since 2007, starting in Universiti Teknologi MARA Perak. He has also worked in the industry, designing commercial; residential and institutional projects.

    Dr. Faizal has written several articles for international journals, proceedings and magazines. He has been to international industry conferences in Japan, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia.

    Ms. Sharon LEE Soo Hoon
    Design Lecturer

    Ms. Sharon is a lecturer in Interior Design. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design and master’s degree in Landscape Architecture.

    She was a Project Manager in Singapore. As a project manager, she heads the project department for all administration, agreement, operation and project matters. She managed a team from project proposal to implementation and completion of design and build projects, while collaborate with a wide range of industry partners to ensure projects meet the performance standards and follow schedule for project deliverable.

    She was an Interior Designer in Singapore and Malaysia. She has designed and delivered various interior design projects such as residential, office, shopping mall, retail, stage, and others. She has handled interior design projects from agreement, consult, conceptual design, detail drawings, selection of materials and finishes, project schedule and planning, to submission of projects. She loves to design and create something good, functional, yet aesthetic, from a small piece of furniture, to a big piece of interior space.

    Ms. TAN Yean Ne
    Design Lecturer

    Ms Tan Yean Ne has completed a Diploma in Graphic Design from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Singapore and Bachelors Degree in Computer Graphic Design (Multimedia) from Waikato University, New Zealand.

    She has over 10 years of experience working in design industry and 13 years of experience working in academics, specialising in Advertising, Graphic Design, Digital media, Creative Thinking & Problems Solving.

    Mr. Ellem OOI Kok Hor
    Design Lecturer

    Mr Ellem Ooi is the lecturer of Graphic and Multimedia Department in Raffles University since 2018. Currently, he is in charge of teaching design and multimedia courses, as well as supervising students for their final year projects. In 2006, he obtained a Bmm (Hons) Creative Multimedia, major in Digital Media from Multimedia University. In 2018, he obtained a Masters of Instructional Design and Technology from Open University Malaysia, specializing in e-learning and educational technology.

    At the beginning of his professional teaching career, he accumulated 6 years of design industry experience being an interactive graphic and web designers in Singapore and Brunei. He developed knowledge and insight in advertising, web development and internet marketing. He also dedicated over 7 years as a lecturer at the International Graduates Studies College (Brunei) and visual design and multimedia Diploma courses from Lim Kok Wing University of Creative Technology.

    Mr. WONG Shaw Chiang
    Design Lecturer

    Mr Wong Shaw Chiang is a passionate and experienced graphic design practitioner who believes that designers should deal with a different range of issues and stand at the forefront of making the world a better place for all. He actively participates in various community projects such as TEDxSungaiSegget, Ihsan Johor Humanitarian Project, RUN Volunteer Network, and Good Earth Project to promote a sustainable development of his community.

    He is a graphic design lecturer in Raffles University and a PhD candidate at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). He has vast experience in conducting design thinking programmes and workshops for university students. He is also actively involved in research and development in pedagogical methods for design-centric learning and competency models for future graphic design graduates.

    He has published several papers about his views on the current state of graphic design education and profession in Malaysia.

    Dr. Mohammad Tirani ASADALLAH
    Design Lecturer

    Dr. Tirani started his art and design profession since 1996 by entering Art & Architecture University in Tehran, Iran. After finishing his Bachelor of Fine Arts and gaining experience in the field of graphic design and advertising, he moved to Malaysia in 2006 to continue in his Masters degree in the field of Visual Communication and New Media in UITM University in Shah Alam. Tirani continued his studied in his PHD research in the field of Art History and Art Aesthetic and received his doctorate in May 2017.

    Dr. Tirani have been working as a freelance designer since 2000 and worked with several companies from Iran, Malaysia and Canada. His experience contain corporate identity design for different companies and variety of design works such as shirt branding, billboard, book and magazine, gift, website, etc.

    Since 1995 Tirani has participated in several art exhibition and events such as Mail Art Group series in Malaysia, Greece, Italy and Canada as well as group and solo exhibitions in Iran and Malaysia. He organized several art and cultural events in Malaysian galleries and at the Art Expo Malaysia and Biennales. Dr. Tirani is also the author of the book “Experiences, A Collection of Drawings by Mohammad Tirani”.

    Ms. Victoria Vincent BARWOOD
    Design Lecturer

    Ms Victoria Barwood’s teaching expertise includes specialist skills in womenswear/menswear construction, sewing techniques and garment technology working with all BA Hons University level of students on design-led projects.

    She was previously employed at Northumbria University, UK as a Sewing Technician to all BA Hons Fashion Design/ Fashion Design and Marketing departments. She offered support and teaching on a one to one basis as well as larger groups and classes and is trained in extensive specialist resources to support and maintain the creation and realization of student work.

    She has also previously worked in both high street and luxury high end design, mainly working in production and within a design technologists’ team. She has also worked as a freelance designer to high end companies for uniform production as a pattern cutter/machine samplist. Specialisations include: Tailoring, textiles, fabric manipulation, moulage, garment fit and construction, leather work, lingerie and sportswear construction, textile and print placement, design concept, design development.

    Dr. TAN Hui Siang
    Design Lecturer

    Dr. Tan Hui Siang graduated from Iowa State University (ISU) with a doctoral degree in Apparel, Merchandising, and Design in 2017, focusing on bi-cultural entrepreneurship.  She then taught in Apparel, Merchandising, and Design program (ISU) as a lecturer in spring 2018.  During her grad school, Dr. Tan worked as a graduate assistant to assist faculty in teaching and research for eight years.  Classes that she taught as a teaching assistant included fashion illustration, CAD, virtual retailing and product development labs, besides financial workshop of entrepreneurship.  Whereas for graduate research, she mostly assisted for Iowa Retail Initiative project and student consulting projects, which aim to promote rural small business development in Iowa, USA.

    Before ISU, Dr. Tan was teaching online as an associate faculty for two years at University of Central Missouri, after receiving her master’s degree in Industrial Management. She also worked in the US retail stores for three years after earning her bachelor’s degree in Textile and Clothing in Business.

    Furthermore, Dr. Tan graduated from LaSalle Fashion International School in Kuala Lumpur with a Fashion Design Diploma in 1998 besides years of working experience in apparel industries and tailor store in Malaysia before her further study to the US.

    Mr. Joseph HII Wee Siong
    Business Lecturer

    Mr Joseph Hii is a lecturer of Finance at Raffles University and teaches the economics and finance modules in the university. Prior to his academic journey, he has worked with several projects in collaboration with MNCs such as Manpower Group Malaysia and etc.

    He holds a Bachelor of Business in Finance (Honours) degree, Master of Business Administration specialised in Finance and a Master of Art degree in Management Studies. His current research interest focuses on behavioural finance and sustainable finance. He is also a HRDF-certified trainer with many years of experience in fields related to training, education and consulting. In addition, he holds the role as an Assistant Editor of Asian Journal of Business Research, a SCOPUS indexed journal that publishing by MAG Scholar.

    Ms. TAN Ling Lie
    Accountancy Lecturer

    Ms Tan Ling Lie joined Raffles University in 2017 as a lecturer of Accounting in the Business department. She is responsible for teaching accounting and all accounting related modules.

    Prior to her academic career with Raffles University, she had over three years experience working in Singapore in one of their Top 10 professional accounting firms and with one of the Big 4 professional accounting firms in Malaysia as an auditor.

    She holds a Master’s Degree of Science in Accountancy and Finance (MSc) from Birmingham City University, and an affiliate in ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).

    Dr. FONG Sook Fun
    Business Lecturer

    Dr. Fong Sook Fun is the Managing Editor of Journal of Arts & Social Sciences and a lecturer in the Business Faculty in Raffles University. Her current research interest is in the area of marketing in rural tourism.

    She obtained her PhD in Marketing in Rural Tourism from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) in 2016. In the area of research and publications, she has been involved in research projects, and her publications have appeared on topics related to marketing, new product development, rural tourism, and sustainable rural tourism development.

    Ms. Salmiah Binti AWANG
    Foundation Lecturer

    Ms Salmiah binti Awang is a lecturer at Raffles University with a Master in Malay Literature from Universiti Putra Malaysia (2010-2012) and a Bachelors Degree from the University of Malaya (2005-2008).

    She has over 10 years experience in the field of Social Science, specialising in TITAS, Ethnic Relations, Malaysian Studies and Malay Language. She has also presented papers at seminars organized by public universities and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka. Amongst her studies presented at the seminar were “Simbolisme dalam Puisi Kanak-kanak”, “Keberkesanan Lagu Patriotik dalam Pembangunan Jati Diri” dan ” Dokumentasi Tumbuhan Herba dalam Menjana Kehidupan di Alam Melayu”. She is also involved in enhancement courses in teaching such as “Program Bimbingan Tenaga Pengajar Mata Pelajaran Umum”.

    Dr. DAN Joon Chew
    Business Lecturer

    Dr Dan holds a PhD in Management (Marketing) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Master of Science (Marketing) from University Putra Malaysia and a Degree in Marketing from Murdoch University, Australia.

    Prior to his attachment as an academician, he was an industry practitioner. He spent almost 25 years in various industries such as airlines, hospitality, telecommunications and rubber industry, holding various positions from service management, sales management, fleet management to marketing management. He is specialised in teaching subjects relate to marketing and supply chain management.

    Mr. Nico Jean M. PEETERS
    Business Lecturer

    Nico Peeters holds a MA degree in Literature and Linguistics, with post-graduates in Academic Teacher Training and Business Communication. As a lecturer of English as a Foreign Language, Nico contributed to multiple textbooks and took a lead role in international teacher training seminars.

    Capitalizing on his international experience, Nico pursued a MBA degree, specializing in the strategic management of technology and innovation. He conducted extensive research in the field of “Open Innovation” and co-authored various studies in this area. This led to Nico becoming a prominent strategic consultant and corporate trainer, guiding enterprises in their quest for innovation, optimisation, and expansion. Currently, in his role as a senior manager in an international organisation, Nico’s ultimate goal is to drive competence building and stimulate cross-cultural cooperation.

    Nico brings this expertise to Raffles University: his background in teaching and research, on the one hand, and his immersion in the global business arena, on the other hand, enable Nico to bridge the academic field and business practice. Moreover, having worked across different continents, he possesses the interpersonal, intercultural, and linguistic tools to greatly facilitate students’ learning.

    Ms. Claire ANG Meng Lin
    Psychology Lecturer

    Claire Ang Meng Lin is a psychologist and kinesiologist, who specializes in working with child and adolescents with special needs at Keiki Brain Works Center. Claire is one of the pioneers therapist who specialize working with children and young adults with Autism in Johor Bahru. Claire holds a B.A Psychology (Counselling) and a M.A in Educational Psychology. Claire is also an International certified Brain Gym Instructor and Consultant.

    Prior to her return to Malaysia, Claire served as an educational therapist at The Institute for Family Enrichment, Honolulu, Hawaii, U.S.A., where she worked with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and other specific learning disabilities.     Ms. Adeline TAN Wei Wei
    Psychology Lecturer

    Adeline is a psychotherapist and registered & licensed counsellor. She graduated with an MA in Education (Guidance & Counselling) from UTM in 2015; MA in Education (Educational Psychology & Counselling) from National Chengchi University, Taiwan in 2006; Graduate Diploma in Psychology from Monash University, Australia in 2003; and BSc in Physics from Universiti Sains Malaysia, with a Major in Physics and a Minor in Management Studies in 1998.

    She was awarded the Stella Crossley Prize in 2002 and William Webster Prize in 2003 by Monash University, Australia, for the highest aggregate mark in all core units of the Psychology major among 500 students worldwide. She is an experienced practitioner in psychotherapy and obtained her Advanced Diploma in Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy, The Institute of Satir Pacific, Canada in 2012; certificate in Play Therapy, SAPET, Malaysia in 2011. She was trained in a number of different counselling and psychotherapy approaches. She is an enthusiastic psychology lecturer, counsellor and psychotherapist.

    Ms. Jean TEOH
    Design Lecturer

    Malaysian born, Jean Teoh is a fashion design graduate from Raffles Higher of College in Singapore in 2012. Jean Teoh was the Finalist of Audi Star Creation fashion festival 2013 and Harpers Bazaar Asia New Generation Young designer in 2013 and 2014.

    She specialises in modernist and innovative pattern making and creating clothing for wearable art which allows a convert ability, simple forms and cutting clean designs. Focusing in pattern making and draping skills the feminine silhouette adheres to the idea of a constantly changing present women and mens wear, while communicating with her personal awareness and obsession with the human body dimensions and shape. Currently working on her current project of Up-cycling concept collection (R.E) and a freelance abstract painter.

    Ms. NG Ann Nee
    Design Lecturer

    Ms. Anne holds a degree in Multimedia Design and gained extensive teaching experience at a renowned design school in Malaysia. She pursued further education in New Zealand, which provided her with a stepping stone to a promising international career.

    As a design professional she demonstrated consistent growth in responsibilities and expertise, working for global agencies and serving international clients and brands. Based in China, she was constantly exposed to new and rapid developments in the industry and stayed on the forefront of digital and interactive design. Supported by her strong technical insight, she succeeds in converting creative ideas into a unique brand experience – and Anne’s passion for design and her remarkable eye for detail are the value drivers for her clients.

    Ms. Joanne CHING Yann Peng
    Accountancy Programme Director of Accountancy; Lecturer

    Ms Joanne Ching received a Masters of Business Administration (specialised in Finance) from the Feng Chia University, Taiwan and a Bachelors of Commerce (Finance) from Queensland University of Technology, Australia.

    In 2016, she joined Raffles University where she is currently the Programme Director for the Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours), Foundation in Business Studies and Diploma in Business Studies programmes. Her main research interests include banks performance, macroeconomics, and corporate finance. She has taught courses on Financial Management, Corporate Finance, International Finance, and Economics at all levels. Her research has been published in The Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance, The International Business Review, and The International Journal of Finance.

    Ms. TAN Ling Lie
    Accountancy Lecturer

    Ms Tan Ling Lie joined Raffles University in 2017 as a lecturer of Accounting in the Business department. She is responsible for teaching accounting and all accounting related modules.

    Prior to her academic career with Raffles University, she had over three years experience working in Singapore in one of their Top 10 professional accounting firms and with one of the Big 4 professional accounting firms in Malaysia as an auditor.

    She holds a Master’s Degree of Science in Accountancy and Finance (MSc) from Birmingham City University, and an affiliate in ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).

    Dr. CHOI Sang Long
    Business Programme Director of Business, Associate Professor

    Dr.Choi has been working in the corporate sector for over 18 years before embarking in the field of education. He was appointed as senior managerial positions in several local and multi- national companies in retailing, financial and manufacturing sector. He is a Certified Advance HR Practitioner (CAHRP) by the Malaysia Institute of HRM. He is also a Certified Trainer / HR consultant by PSMB. He obtained his PhD specializing in Management from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2011.

    He has published more than 100 manuscripts in various international indexed journals (ISI/ Scopus), book chapters and proceedings. His research papers are widely cited internationally (Scopus H Index = 8 / Google Scholar H index = 21). His research interest is in the area of Human Resources Management and Organizational Behavior. He has been an examiner and supervisor for PhD students since 2011.  He also served as a Panel Assessor for Malaysia Qualification Agency, Education Ministry since 2010.

    Dr. Sasa ARSOVSKI
    Business Programme Director of AI and Robotic; Senior Lecturer

    With more than twenty years’ experience as an AI and IT developer, Dr Sasa Arsovski has received a Ph.D. from the Department of Applied Computer Science and Informatics, Faculty of Technical Science, University Novi Sad, Serbia. Since 2004 he has been working as an independent associate for the development of ICT in the Guarantee Fund of AP Vojvodina, as a visiting Professor at multiple universities (inc. International University in Novi Pazar, Serbia and University Novi Sad, Serbia). He was also the Lab Vice Director and AI researcher at the Imagineering Institute in Johor.

    Dr Sasa Arsovski has received an award by the Union of ICT Societies of Serbia (JISA, DISKOBOLOS 2009) and author of the books “Decision support and strategic planning ontologies” and “Deep Learning Applications”. He is a member or chief editor of multiple boards including: Informing Science Institute’ (USA);‘Multimodal Technologies and Interaction-MTI international journal’;‘Transactions on Leading-edge Synergistic Robots international journal’; MTI’s “Deep Learning” special issue; Program Chair-ACE international conference (2017); 2018 International Conference on Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence – USA; Academy of Science – Malaysia; and National Machine Learning initiative group.

    Mr. Hanafi AHMAD
    Business Programme Director of Supply Chain Management; Lecturer

    Mr Hanafi Ahmad is the Program Director at Raffles University. He’s main expertise is within Economics, Business, Maritime Safety and Security,  Supply Chain and Safety Management. He worked in the logistics and transport industry for over 16 years (manufacturing, freight management and warehousing) and 6 years in education.

    He is currently completing his PhD in Supply Chain Management in Halal at UMT (University Malaysia Terengganu) and holds an MBA in Logistics Management – Transportations management from Unisel (University Industry Selangor) and a Bachelor of Economics (Hos.) majoring in Business Studies from UPM (University Putra Malaysia)

    Mr. Joseph HII Wee Siong
    Business Lecturer

    Mr Joseph Hii is a lecturer of Finance at Raffles University and teaches the economics and finance modules in the university. Prior to his academic journey, he has worked with several projects in collaboration with MNCs such as Manpower Group Malaysia and etc.

    He holds a Bachelor of Business in Finance (Honours) degree, Master of Business Administration specialised in Finance and a Master of Art degree in Management Studies. His current research interest focuses on behavioural finance and sustainable finance. He is also a HRDF-certified trainer with many years of experience in fields related to training, education and consulting. In addition, he holds the role as an Assistant Editor of Asian Journal of Business Research, a SCOPUS indexed journal that publishing by MAG Scholar.

    Dr. FONG Sook Fun
    Business Lecturer

    Dr. Fong Sook Fun is the Managing Editor of Journal of Arts & Social Sciences and a lecturer in the Business Faculty in Raffles University. Her current research interest is in the area of marketing in rural tourism.

    She obtained her PhD in Marketing in Rural Tourism from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) in 2016. In the area of research and publications, she has been involved in research projects, and her publications have appeared on topics related to marketing, new product development, rural tourism, and sustainable rural tourism development.

    Dr. DAN Joon Chew
    Business Lecturer

    Dr Dan holds a PhD in Management (Marketing) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Master of Science (Marketing) from University Putra Malaysia and a Degree in Marketing from Murdoch University, Australia.

    Prior to his attachment as an academician, he was an industry practitioner. He spent almost 25 years in various industries such as airlines, hospitality, telecommunications and rubber industry, holding various positions from service management, sales management, fleet management to marketing management. He is specialised in teaching subjects relate to marketing and supply chain management.

    Mr. Nico Jean M. PEETERS
    Business Lecturer

    Nico Peeters holds a MA degree in Literature and Linguistics, with post-graduates in Academic Teacher Training and Business Communication. As a lecturer of English as a Foreign Language, Nico contributed to multiple textbooks and took a lead role in international teacher training seminars.

    Capitalizing on his international experience, Nico pursued a MBA degree, specializing in the strategic management of technology and innovation. He conducted extensive research in the field of “Open Innovation” and co-authored various studies in this area. This led to Nico becoming a prominent strategic consultant and corporate trainer, guiding enterprises in their quest for innovation, optimisation, and expansion. Currently, in his role as a senior manager in an international organisation, Nico’s ultimate goal is to drive competence building and stimulate cross-cultural cooperation.

    Nico brings this expertise to Raffles University: his background in teaching and research, on the one hand, and his immersion in the global business arena, on the other hand, enable Nico to bridge the academic field and business practice. Moreover, having worked across different continents, he possesses the interpersonal, intercultural, and linguistic tools to greatly facilitate students’ learning.

    Mr. Alex TAN Wei Kian
    Design Programme Director of Art & Design; Senior Lecturer

    Mr Alex’s main interest is in developing dynamic teaching method to enrich students’ learning experiences by associating theory with practical experience such as live exhibitions, visiting companies, collaborating with industry partners and organizing field trip. He is passionate about motivating students to participate in activities and competitions to develop their self-confidence and their interest in learning and critical thinking.

    Mr Alex has also been appointed as the chairperson for the Board of Teaching & Learning for Raffles University. He obtained his MSc in Multimedia from Multimedia University in 2011, specialising in interactive installation, user experience, web development, new media, media innovation, motion graphic, sustainable design, augmented reality and gamification.

    He received his Bmm (Hons) Creative Multimedia majoring in Digital Media from Multimedia University in 2005. He has 13 years of teaching experience at Multimedia University, Raffles Design Institute (Shanghai), Taylor’s University and Raffles University since 2006. He is in charge of the Learning Management System (LMS) for several campuses under the Raffles Education Group. Mr Alex has also worked in the industry since 2005 and manages his own multimedia company which focuses on web design, web/app development and consultancy.

    Mr. Mohd Khedzir Bin KHAMIS
    Design Programme Director of Interior Design; Lecturer

    Mr. Mohd Khedzir is the Program Director of Interior Design Programme at Raffles University (RU). He has joined the RU family in 2016. Prior to joining Raffles, he obtained his Diploma in Interior Design from Institut Teknologi MARA (ITM). Even though active in the industries, he pursues his BSc of Housing, Building and Planning majoring in Interior Design from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 1999.

    He entered the education field in 2002 when he joined MARA Youth Junior College (MRSM) as an art teacher and in 2003, he joined Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) as a lecturer until 2015, while completing his MA in Visual Communication in 2007. His passion in research involves museum spatial, circulation design and heritage studies. He did quite a few academic research pieces and published in several journal and proceedings.

    Despite his activities as an academic, he is also active in the professional body. Currently, he is a registered member of Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM) Interior Designers, Corporate Members of Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID) and recently as an accreditation panel member of Council of Architectural Accreditation and Education Malaysia (CAEM) Board of Architect Malaysia for Interior Design Programme.

    Ms. Jennifer KONG
    Design Programme Director of Fashion Design; Senior Lecturer

    Ms Jennifer Kong worked in the fashion industry in London for 15 years, before embarking in the field of education. She was a graduate of Central St. Martins and London College of Fashion from the University of Arts London with a first-class BA Hons degree in Fashion Design and Technology Womenswear. She also gained a Postgraduate degree in Garment Technology and Pattern Cutting in 2011.

    Her varied experiences include working for luxury international design companies in London and Europe in design, production and manufacturing, as well as having her own fashion business. She has also worked as a freelance consultant in connection with new brands and concepts.Her experiences and expertise, including design concepts, fabric, colour palettes, design development, two-dimensional cutting, modelling on the stand, patterns, garment fitting and construction, textile placement and manufacturing.

    She is currently a Programme Director for Fashion, which looks after the running and progressing of the Fashion programme. Her teaching expertise includes specialist skills in final year major projects, pattern cutting and surface embellishment on design led projects, garment technology and production. Her successful supervision of Final Collections and Pre-Collection projects by final year students have attracted public attention. She was invited and participated in Malaysia largest TV Astro, Astro Star Quest (Asia), Astro The Voice (Asia), Vouch Magazine, Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week, YKK awards, Colden Scissors Awards Singapore, AirAsia Runway Designer Search Awards, Redress Design Awards, Graduate International Fashion awards and many more.

    Mr. Muhammad Syukri Bin ABDULLAH SANI
    Design Lecturer

    Since 2012, Syukri has been a lecturer at Raffles University and is currently teaching the Interior Design Programme. Trained as an architect with a Part II qualification, he has gained various industry experience including working with Razin Architects, Yonezawa Architects in Japan and other freelancing projects. His area of expertise includes technological experimentation and innovation, as well as guiding creative ideas towards inventive concept designs.

    At Raffles University, Syukri’s teaching area are mainly in design fundamentals, both for Diploma in Interior Design and Bachelor of Interior Design (Hons) programmes. This includes modules such as design principles, basic CAD and 3D modelling as well as creativity subjects. He also engages in various design studio modules, mainly focusing on ideas development and technical aspects of interior design. Syukri also contributes towards developing students’ career skills and managing the Design Workshop as well as curating the Interior Design Gallery.

    Syukri has also engaged in research and projects related to latest virtual reality (VR) technology for architectural design. In June 2016, Syukri published a research paper that won the Best Paper Award at the Proceedings of 22nd IASTEM International Conference in Tokyo, Japan. In this paper, he highlights that virtual reality technology could be assembled by architecture students easily and as low as zero dollar. As a result, Syukri are able to setup and operate virtual reality technology such as Oculus Rift and Google Cardboard specifically for the need of architecture and design students.

    Dr. Muhammad Faizal Bin ABDUL RANI
    Design Lecturer

    Dr. Muhammad Faizal Bin Abdul Rani is a lecturer in the Interior Design Program. He joined Raffles University in 2017. He specializes in Thai Design concentrating on Lanna art, culture and architecture and Thai Buddhism.

    Dr. Faizal has a Ph.D. in Thai studies from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, a M.Sc. in Building Technology and Construction from the University of Malaya, and a B.Sc. HBP in Interior Design from the University of Science Malaysia. He has been teaching since 2007, starting in Universiti Teknologi MARA Perak. He has also worked in the industry, designing commercial; residential and institutional projects.

    Dr. Faizal has written several articles for international journals, proceedings and magazines. He has been to international industry conferences in Japan, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia.

    Ms. Sharon LEE Soo Hoon
    Design Lecturer

    Ms. Sharon is a lecturer in Interior Design. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design and master’s degree in Landscape Architecture.

    She was a Project Manager in Singapore. As a project manager, she heads the project department for all administration, agreement, operation and project matters. She managed a team from project proposal to implementation and completion of design and build projects, while collaborate with a wide range of industry partners to ensure projects meet the performance standards and follow schedule for project deliverable.

    She was an Interior Designer in Singapore and Malaysia. She has designed and delivered various interior design projects such as residential, office, shopping mall, retail, stage, and others. She has handled interior design projects from agreement, consult, conceptual design, detail drawings, selection of materials and finishes, project schedule and planning, to submission of projects. She loves to design and create something good, functional, yet aesthetic, from a small piece of furniture, to a big piece of interior space.

    Ms. TAN Yean Ne
    Design Lecturer

    Ms Tan Yean Ne has completed a Diploma in Graphic Design from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Singapore and Bachelors Degree in Computer Graphic Design (Multimedia) from Waikato University, New Zealand.

    She has over 10 years of experience working in design industry and 13 years of experience working in academics, specialising in Advertising, Graphic Design, Digital media, Creative Thinking & Problems Solving.

    Mr. Ellem OOI Kok Hor
    Design Lecturer

    Mr Ellem Ooi is the lecturer of Graphic and Multimedia Department in Raffles University since 2018. Currently, he is in charge of teaching design and multimedia courses, as well as supervising students for their final year projects. In 2006, he obtained a Bmm (Hons) Creative Multimedia, major in Digital Media from Multimedia University. In 2018, he obtained a Masters of Instructional Design and Technology from Open University Malaysia, specializing in e-learning and educational technology.

    At the beginning of his professional teaching career, he accumulated 6 years of design industry experience being an interactive graphic and web designers in Singapore and Brunei. He developed knowledge and insight in advertising, web development and internet marketing. He also dedicated over 7 years as a lecturer at the International Graduates Studies College (Brunei) and visual design and multimedia Diploma courses from Lim Kok Wing University of Creative Technology.

    Mr. WONG Shaw Chiang
    Design Lecturer

    Mr Wong Shaw Chiang is a passionate and experienced graphic design practitioner who believes that designers should deal with a different range of issues and stand at the forefront of making the world a better place for all. He actively participates in various community projects such as TEDxSungaiSegget, Ihsan Johor Humanitarian Project, RUN Volunteer Network, and Good Earth Project to promote a sustainable development of his community.

    He is a graphic design lecturer in Raffles University and a PhD candidate at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). He has vast experience in conducting design thinking programmes and workshops for university students. He is also actively involved in research and development in pedagogical methods for design-centric learning and competency models for future graphic design graduates.

    He has published several papers about his views on the current state of graphic design education and profession in Malaysia.

    Dr. Mohammad Tirani ASADALLAH
    Design Lecturer

    Dr. Tirani started his art and design profession since 1996 by entering Art & Architecture University in Tehran, Iran. After finishing his Bachelor of Fine Arts and gaining experience in the field of graphic design and advertising, he moved to Malaysia in 2006 to continue in his Masters degree in the field of Visual Communication and New Media in UITM University in Shah Alam. Tirani continued his studied in his PHD research in the field of Art History and Art Aesthetic and received his doctorate in May 2017.

    Dr. Tirani have been working as a freelance designer since 2000 and worked with several companies from Iran, Malaysia and Canada. His experience contain corporate identity design for different companies and variety of design works such as shirt branding, billboard, book and magazine, gift, website, etc.

    Since 1995 Tirani has participated in several art exhibition and events such as Mail Art Group series in Malaysia, Greece, Italy and Canada as well as group and solo exhibitions in Iran and Malaysia. He organized several art and cultural events in Malaysian galleries and at the Art Expo Malaysia and Biennales. Dr. Tirani is also the author of the book “Experiences, A Collection of Drawings by Mohammad Tirani”.

    Ms. Victoria Vincent BARWOOD
    Design Lecturer

    Ms Victoria Barwood’s teaching expertise includes specialist skills in womenswear/menswear construction, sewing techniques and garment technology working with all BA Hons University level of students on design-led projects.

    She was previously employed at Northumbria University, UK as a Sewing Technician to all BA Hons Fashion Design/ Fashion Design and Marketing departments. She offered support and teaching on a one to one basis as well as larger groups and classes and is trained in extensive specialist resources to support and maintain the creation and realization of student work.

    She has also previously worked in both high street and luxury high end design, mainly working in production and within a design technologists’ team. She has also worked as a freelance designer to high end companies for uniform production as a pattern cutter/machine samplist. Specialisations include: Tailoring, textiles, fabric manipulation, moulage, garment fit and construction, leather work, lingerie and sportswear construction, textile and print placement, design concept, design development.

    Dr. TAN Hui Siang
    Design Lecturer

    Dr. Tan Hui Siang graduated from Iowa State University (ISU) with a doctoral degree in Apparel, Merchandising, and Design in 2017, focusing on bi-cultural entrepreneurship.  She then taught in Apparel, Merchandising, and Design program (ISU) as a lecturer in spring 2018.  During her grad school, Dr. Tan worked as a graduate assistant to assist faculty in teaching and research for eight years.  Classes that she taught as a teaching assistant included fashion illustration, CAD, virtual retailing and product development labs, besides financial workshop of entrepreneurship.  Whereas for graduate research, she mostly assisted for Iowa Retail Initiative project and student consulting projects, which aim to promote rural small business development in Iowa, USA.

    Before ISU, Dr. Tan was teaching online as an associate faculty for two years at University of Central Missouri, after receiving her master’s degree in Industrial Management. She also worked in the US retail stores for three years after earning her bachelor’s degree in Textile and Clothing in Business.

    Furthermore, Dr. Tan graduated from LaSalle Fashion International School in Kuala Lumpur with a Fashion Design Diploma in 1998 besides years of working experience in apparel industries and tailor store in Malaysia before her further study to the US.

    Ms. LIEW Tze Siew
    Foundation Programme Director of Foundation Programme; Lecturer

    Ms Liew is currently the Programme Director for the English Language and the Foundation in Liberal Arts Programme at Raffles University. She holds a Masters of TESOL and has six years of experience in designing teaching and learning materials as well as teaching pre-U and undergraduate students in various types of English courses that include General English, IELTS Reading and Writing, English for Academic Purposes, Learning/ Study Skills, Business Communication, English for Communication, Critical Thinking and Intro to Liberal Arts.

    As an English lecturer, she constantly strives to incorporate interactive activities and discussions for the students in the language classroom. She also believes in having students’ best interests at heart while teaching but at the same time also imparting the necessary life-long learning skills and motivating students in what she teaches.

    Ms. Thivya A/P ASOKAN
    Foundation Lecturer

    Ms Thivya is a committed English Language lecturer with 7 years of experience at various Malaysian academic institutions teaching students from different cultural and social backgrounds. She possesses effective teaching methods that promote invigorating learning environment and often incorporates English language activities that are hands-on, authentic and interactive to strengthen on classroom learning.

    She constantly provides feedback and guidance to help students to enhance their language skills. She is also willing to take initiate to improve the quality of teaching methods if required. Hardworking & dedicated, Thivya is willing to put in extra time to learn and accomplish a task. Not only that, she is also an independent and dynamic team player and able to communicate with all levels. She strongly believes in the concept of “English beyond the classroom” as it assists students to become better English language learners.

    Ms. Salmiah Binti AWANG

    Ms Salmiah binti Awang is a lecturer at Raffles University with a Master in Malay Literature from Universiti Putra Malaysia (2010-2012) and a Bachelors Degree from the University of Malaya (2005-2008).

    She has over 10 years experience in the field of Social Science, specialising in TITAS, Ethnic Relations, Malaysian Studies and Malay Language. She has also presented papers at seminars organized by public universities and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka. Amongst her studies presented at the seminar were “Simbolisme dalam Puisi Kanak-kanak”, “Keberkesanan Lagu Patriotik dalam Pembangunan Jati Diri” dan ” Dokumentasi Tumbuhan Herba dalam Menjana Kehidupan di Alam Melayu”. She is also involved in enhancement courses in teaching such as “Program Bimbingan Tenaga Pengajar Mata Pelajaran Umum”.

    Dr. Samuel CHAN Hsin Chlen

    Dr. Samuel Chan is a Program Director and the University Counsellor at Raffles University.

    Dr. Chan has a BA in Psychology from California State University, a Master of Human & Organizational Development from Azusa Pacific University, and a PhD in Guidance and Counselling from University Technology Malaysia.

    He has additional roles as a Managing Director in Family Keepers Malaysia, the Chief Editor in “Family Keepers Bi-Monthly Magazine” and a member of the Board of Directors for SJK (2015-2020). He is also an Adjunct Lecturer in Malaysia Bible Seminary.

    Ms. Claire ANG Meng Lin
    Psychology Lecturer

    Claire Ang Meng Lin is a psychologist and kinesiologist, who specializes in working with child and adolescents with special needs at Keiki Brain Works Center. Claire is one of the pioneers therapist who specialize working with children and young adults with Autism in Johor Bahru. Claire holds a B.A Psychology (Counselling) and a M.A in Educational Psychology. Claire is also an International certified Brain Gym Instructor and Consultant.

    Prior to her return to Malaysia, Claire served as an educational therapist at The Institute for Family Enrichment, Honolulu, Hawaii, U.S.A., where she worked with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and other specific learning disabilities. She has undergone training in numerous areas such as, Pictures Exchange Communication System (PECS), TEACCH, Touch for Health, Rhythmic Movement Therapy, Applied Behavioural Analysis, and Floor Time approach.

    Ms. Adeline TAN Wei Wei
    Psychology Lecturer

    Adeline is a psychotherapist and registered & licensed counsellor. She graduated with an MA in Education (Guidance & Counselling) from UTM in 2015; MA in Education (Educational Psychology & Counselling) from National Chengchi University, Taiwan in 2006; Graduate Diploma in Psychology from Monash University, Australia in 2003; and BSc in Physics from Universiti Sains Malaysia, with a Major in Physics and a Minor in Management Studies in 1998.

    She was awarded the Stella Crossley Prize in 2002 and William Webster Prize in 2003 by Monash University, Australia, for the highest aggregate mark in all core units of the Psychology major among 500 students worldwide. She is an experienced practitioner in psychotherapy and obtained her Advanced Diploma in Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy, The Institute of Satir Pacific, Canada in 2012; certificate in Play Therapy, SAPET, Malaysia in 2011. She was trained in a number of different counselling and psychotherapy approaches. She is an enthusiastic psychology lecturer, counsellor and psychotherapist.

Professor Dr. Graeme Britton is a New Zealand national with 40 years of experience working in public and private universities in Finland, Malaysia, New Zealand and Singapore. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (hons), a PhD and a higher doctorate, the Doctor of Engineering, from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (UK).

Prof. Britton is an expert in conducting applied research in industry, including company-specific projects, national projects, and international collaborative research projects. His research has focused on the design of management and computer-aided systems for engineering companies using systems methodologies and General Graph Theoretic Methods. He has published 100 refereed papers in top journals and international conferences, 8 book chapters and 2 books. He has consulted to companies in Australia, Finland, New Zealand and Singapore in the areas of quality assurance, design and manufacturing. He won the Walsh Memorial Award in 1970 and was twice a member of educational teams to win the prestigious CASA/SME Award (Singapore in 1992 and Finland in 2002).

Professor Britton has been responsible for setting up Raffles University and positioning it as a university-of-the-future. He is an executive member of the Vice Chancellor’s Committee for Private Universities (Malaysia).

Dr. Tan has worked in tertiary education institutions for over 20 years within education research, teaching, management and leadership. She has extensive work experience in both academic and management positions. Dr. Tan holds a PhD in Educational Technology, a Master degree in Education and a Bachelor Degree in Science and Computer with Education.

As a researcher in education, Dr. Tan conducted extensive research in educational technology and has published these findings in various publications including books, proceedings and journal papers. As a lecturer, she had applied various pedagogies at the  higher education level to promote students’ learning, which have been shared in conferences and journals. These experiences have led Dr. Tan to become a prominent trainer in pedagogy and providing guidance to academic staff in teaching and learning. She is a Certified Trainer under Human Resources Development Fund Malaysia.  She is also appointed as a Panel Assessor for the Malaysia Qualification Agency.

Dr.Choi has been working in the corporate sector for over 18 years before embarking in the field of education. He was appointed as senior managerial positions in several local and multi- national companies in retailing, financial and manufacturing sector. He is a Certified Advance HR Practitioner (CAHRP) by the Malaysia Institute of HRM. He is also a Certified Trainer / HR consultant by PSMB. He obtained his PhD specializing in Management from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2011.

He has published more than 100 manuscripts in various international indexed journals (ISI/ Scopus), book chapters and proceedings. His research papers are widely cited internationally (Scopus H Index = 8 / Google Scholar H index = 21). His research interest is in the area of Human Resources Management and Organizational Behavior. He has been an examiner and supervisor for PhD students since 2011.  He also served as a Panel Assessor for Malaysia Qualification Agency, Education Ministry since 2010.

Mr Alex’s main interest is in developing dynamic teaching method to enrich students’ learning experiences by associating theory with practical experience such as live exhibitions, visiting companies, collaborating with industry partners and organizing field trip. He is passionate about motivating students to participate in activities and competitions to develop their self-confidence and their interest in learning and critical thinking.

Mr Alex has also been appointed as the chairperson for the Board of Teaching & Learning for Raffles University. He obtained his MSc in Multimedia from Multimedia University in 2011, specialising in interactive installation, user experience, web development, new media, media innovation, motion graphic, sustainable design, augmented reality and gamification.

He received his Bmm (Hons) Creative Multimedia majoring in Digital Media from Multimedia University in 2005. He has 13 years of teaching experience at Multimedia University, Raffles Design Institute (Shanghai), Taylor’s University and Raffles University since 2006. He is in charge of the Learning Management System (LMS) for several campuses under the Raffles Education Group. Mr Alex has also worked in the industry since 2005 and manages his own multimedia company which focuses on web design, web/app development and consultancy.

With more than twenty years’ experience as an AI and IT developer, Dr Sasa Arsovski has received a Ph.D. from the Department of Applied Computer Science and Informatics, Faculty of Technical Science, University Novi Sad, Serbia. Since 2004 he has been working as an independent associate for the development of ICT in the Guarantee Fund of AP Vojvodina, as a visiting Professor at multiple universities (inc. International University in Novi Pazar, Serbia and University Novi Sad, Serbia). He was also the Lab Vice Director and AI researcher at the Imagineering Institute in Johor.

Dr Sasa Arsovski has received an award by the Union of ICT Societies of Serbia (JISA, DISKOBOLOS 2009) and author of the books “Decision support and strategic planning ontologies” and “Deep Learning Applications”. He is a member or chief editor of multiple boards including: Informing Science Institute’ (USA);‘Multimodal Technologies and Interaction-MTI international journal’;‘Transactions on Leading-edge Synergistic Robots international journal’; MTI’s “Deep Learning” special issue; Program Chair-ACE international conference (2017); 2018 International Conference on Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence – USA; Academy of Science – Malaysia; and National Machine Learning initiative group.

Dr Sasa Arsovski is a highly recognized AI researcher in the field of computer vision in the industrial quality control, object detection, image understanding and genetic algorithms in the text processing for neural network chatbots.

Mr Hanafi Ahmad is the Program Director at Raffles University. He’s main expertise is within Economics, Business, Maritime Safety and Security,  Supply Chain and Safety Management. He worked in the logistics and transport industry for over 16 years (manufacturing, freight management and warehousing) and 6 years in education.

He is currently completing his PhD in Supply Chain Management in Halal at UMT (University Malaysia Terengganu) and holds an MBA in Logistics Management – Transportations management from Unisel (University Industry Selangor) and a Bachelor of Economics (Hos.) majoring in Business Studies from UPM (University Putra Malaysia)

Mr. Mohd Khedzir is the Program Director of Interior Design Programme at Raffles University (RU). He has joined the RU family in 2016. Prior to joining Raffles, he obtained his Diploma in Interior Design from Institut Teknologi MARA (ITM). Even though active in the industries, he pursues his BSc of Housing, Building and Planning majoring in Interior Design from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 1999.

He entered the education field in 2002 when he joined MARA Youth Junior College (MRSM) as an art teacher and in 2003, he joined Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) as a lecturer until 2015, while completing his MA in Visual Communication in 2007. His passion in research involves museum spatial, circulation design and heritage studies. He did quite a few academic research pieces and published in several journal and proceedings.

Despite his activities as an academic, he is also active in the professional body. Currently, he is a registered member of Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM) Interior Designers, Corporate Members of Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID) and recently as an accreditation panel member of Council of Architectural Accreditation and Education Malaysia (CAEM) Board of Architect Malaysia for Interior Design Programme.

Ms Jennifer Kong worked in the fashion industry in London for 15 years, before embarking in the field of education. She was a graduate of Central St. Martins and London College of Fashion from the University of Arts London with a first-class BA Hons degree in Fashion Design and Technology Womenswear. She also gained a Postgraduate degree in Garment Technology and Pattern Cutting in 2011.

Her varied experiences include working for luxury international design companies in London and Europe in design, production and manufacturing, as well as having her own fashion business. She has also worked as a freelance consultant in connection with new brands and concepts.Her experiences and expertise, including design concepts, fabric, colour palettes, design development, two-dimensional cutting, modelling on the stand, patterns, garment fitting and construction, textile placement and manufacturing.

She is currently a Programme Director for Fashion, which looks after the running and progressing of the Fashion programme. Her teaching expertise includes specialist skills in final year major projects, pattern cutting and surface embellishment on design led projects, garment technology and production. Her successful supervision of Final Collections and Pre-Collection projects by final year students have attracted public attention. She was invited and participated in Malaysia largest TV Astro, Astro Star Quest (Asia), Astro The Voice (Asia), Vouch Magazine, Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week, YKK awards, Colden Scissors Awards Singapore, AirAsia Runway Designer Search Awards, Redress Design Awards, Graduate International Fashion awards and many more.

Ms Liew is currently the Programme Director for the English Language and the Foundation in Liberal Arts Programme at Raffles University. She holds a Masters of TESOL and has six years of experience in designing teaching and learning materials as well as teaching pre-U and undergraduate students in various types of English courses that include General English, IELTS Reading and Writing, English for Academic Purposes, Learning/ Study Skills, Business Communication, English for Communication, Critical Thinking and Intro to Liberal Arts.

As an English lecturer, she constantly strives to incorporate interactive activities and discussions for the students in the language classroom. She also believes in having students’ best interests at heart while teaching but at the same time also imparting the necessary life-long learning skills and motivating students in what she teaches.

Ms Joanne Ching received a Masters of Business Administration (specialised in Finance) from the Feng Chia University, Taiwan and a Bachelors of Commerce (Finance) from Queensland University of Technology, Australia.

In 2016, she joined Raffles University where she is currently the Programme Director for the Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours), Foundation in Business Studies and Diploma in Business Studies programmes. Her main research interests include banks performance, macroeconomics, and corporate finance. She has taught courses on Financial Management, Corporate Finance, International Finance, and Economics at all levels. Her research has been published in The Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance, The International Business Review, and The International Journal of Finance.

Ms Thivya is a committed English Language lecturer with 7 years of experience at various Malaysian academic institutions teaching students from different cultural and social backgrounds. She possesses effective teaching methods that promote invigorating learning environment and often incorporates English language activities that are hands-on, authentic and interactive to strengthen on classroom learning.

She constantly provides feedback and guidance to help students to enhance their language skills. She is also willing to take initiate to improve the quality of teaching methods if required. Hardworking & dedicated, Thivya is willing to put in extra time to learn and accomplish a task. Not only that, she is also an independent and dynamic team player and able to communicate with all levels. She strongly believes in the concept of “English beyond the classroom” as it assists students to become better English language learners.

Since 2012, Syukri has been a lecturer at Raffles University and is currently teaching the Interior Design Programme. Trained as an architect with a Part II qualification, he has gained various industry experience including working with Razin Architects, Yonezawa Architects in Japan and other freelancing projects. His area of expertise includes technological experimentation and innovation, as well as guiding creative ideas towards inventive concept designs.

At Raffles University, Syukri’s teaching area are mainly in design fundamentals, both for Diploma in Interior Design and Bachelor of Interior Design (Hons) programmes. This includes modules such as design principles, basic CAD and 3D modelling as well as creativity subjects. He also engages in various design studio modules, mainly focusing on ideas development and technical aspects of interior design. Syukri also contributes towards developing students’ career skills and managing the Design Workshop as well as curating the Interior Design Gallery.

Syukri has also engaged in research and projects related to latest virtual reality (VR) technology for architectural design. In June 2016, Syukri published a research paper that won the Best Paper Award at the Proceedings of 22nd IASTEM International Conference in Tokyo, Japan. In this paper, he highlights that virtual reality technology could be assembled by architecture students easily and as low as zero dollar. As a result, Syukri are able to setup and operate virtual reality technology such as Oculus Rift and Google Cardboard specifically for the need of architecture and design students.

Dr. Muhammad Faizal Bin Abdul Rani is a lecturer in the Interior Design Program. He joined Raffles University in 2017. He specializes in Thai Design concentrating on Lanna art, culture and architecture and Thai Buddhism.

Dr. Faizal has a Ph.D. in Thai studies from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, a M.Sc. in Building Technology and Construction from the University of Malaya, and a B.Sc. HBP in Interior Design from the University of Science Malaysia. He has been teaching since 2007, starting in Universiti Teknologi MARA Perak. He has also worked in the industry, designing commercial; residential and institutional projects.

Dr. Faizal has written several articles for international journals, proceedings and magazines. He has been to international industry conferences in Japan, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia.

Ms. Sharon is a lecturer in Interior Design. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design and master’s degree in Landscape Architecture.

She was a Project Manager in Singapore. As a project manager, she heads the project department for all administration, agreement, operation and project matters. She managed a team from project proposal to implementation and completion of design and build projects, while collaborate with a wide range of industry partners to ensure projects meet the performance standards and follow schedule for project deliverable.

She was an Interior Designer in Singapore and Malaysia. She has designed and delivered various interior design projects such as residential, office, shopping mall, retail, stage, and others. She has handled interior design projects from agreement, consult, conceptual design, detail drawings, selection of materials and finishes, project schedule and planning, to submission of projects. She loves to design and create something good, functional, yet aesthetic, from a small piece of furniture, to a big piece of interior space.

Ms Tan Yean Ne has completed a Diploma in Graphic Design from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Singapore and Bachelors Degree in Computer Graphic Design (Multimedia) from Waikato University, New Zealand.

She has over 10 years of experience working in design industry and 13 years of experience working in academics, specialising in Advertising, Graphic Design, Digital media, Creative Thinking & Problems Solving.

Mr Ellem Ooi is the lecturer of Graphic and Multimedia Department in Raffles University since 2018. Currently, he is in charge of teaching design and multimedia courses, as well as supervising students for their final year projects. In 2006, he obtained a Bmm (Hons) Creative Multimedia, major in Digital Media from Multimedia University. In 2018, he obtained a Masters of Instructional Design and Technology from Open University Malaysia, specializing in e-learning and educational technology.

At the beginning of his professional teaching career, he accumulated 6 years of design industry experience being an interactive graphic and web designers in Singapore and Brunei. He developed knowledge and insight in advertising, web development and internet marketing. He also dedicated over 7 years as a lecturer at the International Graduates Studies College (Brunei) and visual design and multimedia Diploma courses from Lim Kok Wing University of Creative Technology.

Mr Wong Shaw Chiang is a passionate and experienced graphic design practitioner who believes that designers should deal with a different range of issues and stand at the forefront of making the world a better place for all. He actively participates in various community projects such as TEDxSungaiSegget, Ihsan Johor Humanitarian Project, RUN Volunteer Network, and Good Earth Project to promote a sustainable development of his community.

He is a graphic design lecturer in Raffles University and a PhD candidate at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). He has vast experience in conducting design thinking programmes and workshops for university students. He is also actively involved in research and development in pedagogical methods for design-centric learning and competency models for future graphic design graduates.

He has published several papers about his views on the current state of graphic design education and profession in Malaysia.

Dr. Tirani started his art and design profession since 1996 by entering Art & Architecture University in Tehran, Iran. After finishing his Bachelor of Fine Arts and gaining experience in the field of graphic design and advertising, he moved to Malaysia in 2006 to continue in his Masters degree in the field of Visual Communication and New Media in UITM University in Shah Alam. Tirani continued his studied in his PHD research in the field of Art History and Art Aesthetic and received his doctorate in May 2017.

Dr. Tirani have been working as a freelance designer since 2000 and worked with several companies from Iran, Malaysia and Canada. His experience contain corporate identity design for different companies and variety of design works such as shirt branding, billboard, book and magazine, gift, website, etc.

Since 1995 Tirani has participated in several art exhibition and events such as Mail Art Group series in Malaysia, Greece, Italy and Canada as well as group and solo exhibitions in Iran and Malaysia. He organized several art and cultural events in Malaysian galleries and at the Art Expo Malaysia and Biennales. Dr. Tirani is also the author of the book “Experiences, A Collection of Drawings by Mohammad Tirani”.

Ms Victoria Barwood’s teaching expertise includes specialist skills in womenswear/menswear construction, sewing techniques and garment technology working with all BA Hons University level of students on design-led projects.

She was previously employed at Northumbria University, UK as a Sewing Technician to all BA Hons Fashion Design/ Fashion Design and Marketing departments. She offered support and teaching on a one to one basis as well as larger groups and classes and is trained in extensive specialist resources to support and maintain the creation and realization of student work.

She has also previously worked in both high street and luxury high end design, mainly working in production and within a design technologists’ team. She has also worked as a freelance designer to high end companies for uniform production as a pattern cutter/machine samplist. Specialisations include: Tailoring, textiles, fabric manipulation, moulage, garment fit and construction, leather work, lingerie and sportswear construction, textile and print placement, design concept, design development.

Dr. Tan Hui Siang graduated from Iowa State University (ISU) with a doctoral degree in Apparel, Merchandising, and Design in 2017, focusing on bi-cultural entrepreneurship.  She then taught in Apparel, Merchandising, and Design program (ISU) as a lecturer in spring 2018.  During her grad school, Dr. Tan worked as a graduate assistant to assist faculty in teaching and research for eight years.  Classes that she taught as a teaching assistant included fashion illustration, CAD, virtual retailing and product development labs, besides financial workshop of entrepreneurship.  Whereas for graduate research, she mostly assisted for Iowa Retail Initiative project and student consulting projects, which aim to promote rural small business development in Iowa, USA.

Before ISU, Dr. Tan was teaching online as an associate faculty for two years at University of Central Missouri, after receiving her master’s degree in Industrial Management. She also worked in the US retail stores for three years after earning her bachelor’s degree in Textile and Clothing in Business.

Furthermore, Dr. Tan graduated from LaSalle Fashion International School in Kuala Lumpur with a Fashion Design Diploma in 1998 besides years of working experience in apparel industries and tailor store in Malaysia before her further study to the US.

Mr Joseph Hii is a lecturer of Finance at Raffles University and teaches the economics and finance modules in the university. Prior to his academic journey, he has worked with several projects in collaboration with MNCs such as Manpower Group Malaysia and etc.

He holds a Bachelor of Business in Finance (Honours) degree, Master of Business Administration specialised in Finance and a Master of Art degree in Management Studies. His current research interest focuses on behavioural finance and sustainable finance. He is also a HRDF-certified trainer with many years of experience in fields related to training, education and consulting. In addition, he holds the role as an Assistant Editor of Asian Journal of Business Research, a SCOPUS indexed journal that publishing by MAG Scholar.

Ms Tan Ling Lie joined Raffles University in 2017 as a lecturer of Accounting in the Business department. She is responsible for teaching accounting and all accounting related modules.

Prior to her academic career with Raffles University, she had over three years experience working in Singapore in one of their Top 10 professional accounting firms and with one of the Big 4 professional accounting firms in Malaysia as an auditor.

She holds a Master’s Degree of Science in Accountancy and Finance (MSc) from Birmingham City University, and an affiliate in ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).

Dr. Fong Sook Fun is the Managing Editor of Journal of Arts & Social Sciences and a lecturer in the Business Faculty in Raffles University. Her current research interest is in the area of marketing in rural tourism.

She obtained her PhD in Marketing in Rural Tourism from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) in 2016. In the area of research and publications, she has been involved in research projects, and her publications have appeared on topics related to marketing, new product development, rural tourism, and sustainable rural tourism development.

Dr Dan holds a PhD in Management (Marketing) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Master of Science (Marketing) from University Putra Malaysia and a Degree in Marketing from Murdoch University, Australia.

Prior to his attachment as an academician, he was an industry practitioner. He spent almost 25 years in various industries such as airlines, hospitality, telecommunications and rubber industry, holding various positions from service management, sales management, fleet management to marketing management. He is specialised in teaching subjects relate to marketing and supply chain management.

Nico Peeters holds a MA degree in Literature and Linguistics, with post-graduates in Academic Teacher Training and Business Communication. As a lecturer of English as a Foreign Language, Nico contributed to multiple textbooks and took a lead role in international teacher training seminars.

Capitalizing on his international experience, Nico pursued a MBA degree, specializing in the strategic management of technology and innovation. He conducted extensive research in the field of “Open Innovation” and co-authored various studies in this area. This led to Nico becoming a prominent strategic consultant and corporate trainer, guiding enterprises in their quest for innovation, optimisation, and expansion. Currently, in his role as a senior manager in an international organisation, Nico’s ultimate goal is to drive competence building and stimulate cross-cultural cooperation.

Nico brings this expertise to Raffles University: his background in teaching and research, on the one hand, and his immersion in the global business arena, on the other hand, enable Nico to bridge the academic field and business practice. Claire Ang Meng Lin is a psychologist and kinesiologist, who specializes in working with child and adolescents with special needs at Keiki Brain Works Center. Claire is one of the pioneers therapist who specialize working with children and young adults with Autism in Johor Bahru. Claire holds a B.A Psychology (Counselling) and a M.A in Educational Psychology. Claire is also an International certified Brain Gym Instructor and Consultant.

Prior to her return to Malaysia, Claire served as an educational therapist at The Institute for Family Enrichment, Honolulu, Hawaii, U.S.A., where she worked with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and other specific learning disabilities. She has undergone training in numerous areas such as, Pictures Exchange Communication System (PECS), TEACCH, Touch for Health, Rhythmic Movement Therapy, Applied Behavioural Analysis, and Floor Time approach.

Adeline is a psychotherapist and registered & licensed counsellor. She graduated with an MA in Education (Guidance & Counselling) from UTM in 2015; MA in Education (Educational Psychology & Counselling) from National Chengchi University, Taiwan in 2006; Graduate Diploma in Psychology from Monash University, Australia in 2003; and BSc in Physics from Universiti Sains Malaysia, with a Major in Physics and a Minor in Management Studies in 1998.

She was awarded the Stella Crossley Prize in 2002 and William Webster Prize in 2003 by Monash University, Australia, for the highest aggregate mark in all core units of the Psychology major among 500 students worldwide. She is an experienced practitioner in psychotherapy and obtained her Advanced Diploma in Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy, The Institute of Satir Pacific, Canada in 2012; certificate in Play Therapy, SAPET, Malaysia in 2011. She was trained in a number of different counselling and psychotherapy approaches. She is an enthusiastic psychology lecturer, counsellor and psychotherapist.

Malaysian born, Jean Teoh is a fashion design graduate from Raffles Higher of College in Singapore in 2012. Jean Teoh was the Finalist of Audi Star Creation fashion festival 2013 and Harpers Bazaar Asia New Generation Young designer in 2013 and 2014.

She specialises in modernist and innovative pattern making and creating clothing for wearable art which allows a convert ability, simple forms and cutting clean designs. Focusing in pattern making and draping skills the feminine silhouette adheres to the idea of a constantly changing present women and mens wear, while communicating with her personal awareness and obsession with the human body dimensions and shape. Currently working on her current project of Up-cycling concept collection (R.E) and a freelance abstract painter.

Ms. Anne holds a degree in Multimedia Design and gained extensive teaching experience at a renowned design school in Malaysia. She pursued further education in New Zealand, which provided her with a stepping stone to a promising international career.

As a design professional she demonstrated consistent growth in responsibilities and expertise, working for global agencies and serving international clients and brands. Based in China, she was constantly exposed to new and rapid developments in the industry and stayed on the forefront of digital and interactive design. Ms Joanne Ching received a Masters of Business Administration (specialised in Finance) from the Feng Chia University, Taiwan and a Bachelors of Commerce (Finance) from Queensland University of Technology, Australia.

In 2016, she joined Raffles University where she is currently the Programme Director for the Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours), Foundation in Business Studies and Diploma in Business Studies programmes. Her main research interests include banks performance, macroeconomics, and corporate finance. She has taught courses on Financial Management, Corporate Finance, International Finance, and Economics at all levels. Her research has been published in The Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance, The International Business Review, and The International Journal of Finance.

Ms Tan Ling Lie joined Raffles University in 2017 as a lecturer of Accounting in the Business department. She is responsible for teaching accounting and all accounting related modules.

Prior to her academic career with Raffles University, she had over three years experience working in Singapore in one of their Top 10 professional accounting firms and with one of the Big 4 professional accounting firms in Malaysia as an auditor.

She holds a Master’s Degree of Science in Accountancy and Finance (MSc) from Birmingham City University, and an affiliate in ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).

Dr.Choi has been working in the corporate sector for over 18 years before embarking in the field of education. He was appointed as senior managerial positions in several local and multi- national companies in retailing, financial and manufacturing sector. He is a Certified Advance HR Practitioner (CAHRP) by the Malaysia Institute of HRM. He is also a Certified Trainer / HR consultant by PSMB. He obtained his PhD specializing in Management from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2011.

He has published more than 100 manuscripts in various international indexed journals (ISI/ Scopus), book chapters and proceedings. His research papers are widely cited internationally (Scopus H Index = 8 / Google Scholar H index = 21). His research interest is in the area of Human Resources Management and Organizational Behavior. He has been an examiner and supervisor for PhD students since 2011.  He also served as a Panel Assessor for Malaysia Qualification Agency, Education Ministry since 2010.

With more than twenty years’ experience as an AI and IT developer, Dr Sasa Arsovski has received a Ph.D. from the Department of Applied Computer Science and Informatics, Faculty of Technical Science, University Novi Sad, Serbia. Since 2004 he has been working as an independent associate for the development of ICT in the Guarantee Fund of AP Vojvodina, as a visiting Professor at multiple universities (inc. International University in Novi Pazar, Serbia and University Novi Sad, Serbia). He was also the Lab Vice Director and AI researcher at the Imagineering Institute in Johor.

Dr Sasa Arsovski has received an award by the Union of ICT Societies of Serbia (JISA, DISKOBOLOS 2009) and author of the books “Decision support and strategic planning ontologies” and “Deep Learning Applications”. He is a member or chief editor of multiple boards including: Informing Science Institute’ (USA);‘Multimodal Technologies and Interaction-MTI international journal’;‘Transactions on Leading-edge Synergistic Robots international journal’; MTI’s “Deep Learning” special issue; Program Chair-ACE international conference (2017); 2018 International Conference on Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence – USA; Academy of Science – Malaysia; and National Machine Learning initiative group.

Dr Sasa Arsovski is a highly recognized AI researcher in the field of computer vision in the industrial quality control, object detection, image understanding and genetic algorithms in the text processing for neural network chatbots.

Mr Hanafi Ahmad is the Program Director at Raffles University. He’s main expertise is within Economics, Business, Maritime Safety and Security,  Supply Chain and Safety Management. He worked in the logistics and transport industry for over 16 years (manufacturing, freight management and warehousing) and 6 years in education.

He is currently completing his PhD in Supply Chain Management in Halal at UMT (University Malaysia Terengganu) and holds an MBA in Logistics Management – Transportations management from Unisel (University Industry Selangor) and a Bachelor of Economics (Hos.) majoring in Business Studies from UPM (University Putra Malaysia)

Mr Joseph Hii is a lecturer of Finance at Raffles University and teaches the economics and finance modules in the university. Prior to his academic journey, he has worked with several projects in collaboration with MNCs such as Manpower Group Malaysia and etc.

He holds a Bachelor of Business in Finance (Honours) degree, Master of Business Administration specialised in Finance and a Master of Art degree in Management Studies. His current research interest focuses on behavioural finance and sustainable finance. He is also a HRDF-certified trainer with many years of experience in fields related to training, education and consulting. In addition, he holds the role as an Assistant Editor of Asian Journal of Business Research, a SCOPUS indexed journal that publishing by MAG Scholar.

Dr. Fong Sook Fun is the Managing Editor of Journal of Arts & Social Sciences and a lecturer in the Business Faculty in Raffles University. Her current research interest is in the area of marketing in rural tourism.

She obtained her PhD in Marketing in Rural Tourism from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) in 2016. In the area of research and publications, she has been involved in research projects, and her publications have appeared on topics related to marketing, new product development, rural tourism, and sustainable rural tourism development.

Dr Dan holds a PhD in Management (Marketing) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Master of Science (Marketing) from University Putra Malaysia and a Degree in Marketing from Murdoch University, Australia.

Prior to his attachment as an academician, he was an industry practitioner. He spent almost 25 years in various industries such as airlines, hospitality, telecommunications and rubber industry, holding various positions from service management, sales management, fleet management to marketing management. He is specialised in teaching subjects relate to marketing and supply chain management.

Nico Peeters holds a MA degree in Literature and Linguistics, with post-graduates in Academic Teacher Training and Business Communication. As a lecturer of English as a Foreign Language, Nico contributed to multiple textbooks and took a lead role in international teacher training seminars.

Capitalizing on his international experience, Nico pursued a MBA degree, specializing in the strategic management of technology and innovation. He conducted extensive research in the field of “Open Innovation” and co-authored various studies in this area. This led to Nico becoming a prominent strategic consultant and corporate trainer, guiding enterprises in their quest for innovation, optimisation, and expansion. Currently, in his role as a senior manager in an international organisation, Nico’s ultimate goal is to drive competence building and stimulate cross-cultural cooperation.

Nico brings this expertise to Raffles University: his background in teaching and research, on the one hand, and his immersion in the global business arena, on the other hand, enable Nico to bridge the academic field and business practice. Mr Alex’s main interest is in developing dynamic teaching method to enrich students’ learning experiences by associating theory with practical experience such as live exhibitions, visiting companies, collaborating with industry partners and organizing field trip. He is passionate about motivating students to participate in activities and competitions to develop their self-confidence and their interest in learning and critical thinking.

Mr Alex has also been appointed as the chairperson for the Board of Teaching & Learning for Raffles University. He obtained his MSc in Multimedia from Multimedia University in 2011, specialising in interactive installation, user experience, web development, new media, media innovation, motion graphic, sustainable design, augmented reality and gamification.

He received his Bmm (Hons) Creative Multimedia majoring in Digital Media from Multimedia University in 2005. He has 13 years of teaching experience at Multimedia University, Raffles Design Institute (Shanghai), Taylor’s University and Raffles University since 2006. He is in charge of the Learning Management System (LMS) for several campuses under the Raffles Education Group. Mr Alex has also worked in the industry since 2005 and manages his own multimedia company which focuses on web design, web/app development and consultancy.

Mr. Mohd Khedzir is the Program Director of Interior Design Programme at Raffles University (RU). He has joined the RU family in 2016. Prior to joining Raffles, he obtained his Diploma in Interior Design from Institut Teknologi MARA (ITM). Even though active in the industries, he pursues his BSc of Housing, Building and Planning majoring in Interior Design from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 1999.

He entered the education field in 2002 when he joined MARA Youth Junior College (MRSM) as an art teacher and in 2003, he joined Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) as a lecturer until 2015, while completing his MA in Visual Communication in 2007. His passion in research involves museum spatial, circulation design and heritage studies. He did quite a few academic research pieces and published in several journal and proceedings.

Despite his activities as an academic, he is also active in the professional body. Currently, he is a registered member of Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM) Interior Designers, Corporate Members of Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID) and recently as an accreditation panel member of Council of Architectural Accreditation and Education Malaysia (CAEM) Board of Architect Malaysia for Interior Design Programme.

Ms Jennifer Kong worked in the fashion industry in London for 15 years, before embarking in the field of education. She was a graduate of Central St. Martins and London College of Fashion from the University of Arts London with a first-class BA Hons degree in Fashion Design and Technology Womenswear. She also gained a Postgraduate degree in Garment Technology and Pattern Cutting in 2011.

Her varied experiences include working for luxury international design companies in London and Europe in design, production and manufacturing, as well as having her own fashion business. She has also worked as a freelance consultant in connection with new brands and concepts.Her experiences and expertise, including design concepts, fabric, colour palettes, design development, two-dimensional cutting, modelling on the stand, patterns, garment fitting and construction, textile placement and manufacturing.

She is currently a Programme Director for Fashion, which looks after the running and progressing of the Fashion programme. Her teaching expertise includes specialist skills in final year major projects, pattern cutting and surface embellishment on design led projects, garment technology and production. Her successful supervision of Final Collections and Pre-Collection projects by final year students have attracted public attention. She was invited and participated in Malaysia largest TV Astro, Astro Star Quest (Asia), Astro The Voice (Asia), Vouch Magazine, Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week, YKK awards, Colden Scissors Awards Singapore, AirAsia Runway Designer Search Awards, Redress Design Awards, Graduate International Fashion awards and many more.

Since 2012, Syukri has been a lecturer at Raffles University and is currently teaching the Interior Design Programme. Trained as an architect with a Part II qualification, he has gained various industry experience including working with Razin Architects, Yonezawa Architects in Japan and other freelancing projects. His area of expertise includes technological experimentation and innovation, as well as guiding creative ideas towards inventive concept designs.

At Raffles University, Syukri’s teaching area are mainly in design fundamentals, both for Diploma in Interior Design and Bachelor of Interior Design (Hons) programmes. This includes modules such as design principles, basic CAD and 3D modelling as well as creativity subjects. He also engages in various design studio modules, mainly focusing on ideas development and technical aspects of interior design. Syukri also contributes towards developing students’ career skills and managing the Design Workshop as well as curating the Interior Design Gallery.

Syukri has also engaged in research and projects related to latest virtual reality (VR) technology for architectural design. In June 2016, Syukri published a research paper that won the Best Paper Award at the Proceedings of 22nd IASTEM International Conference in Tokyo, Japan. In this paper, he highlights that virtual reality technology could be assembled by architecture students easily and as low as zero dollar. As a result, Syukri are able to setup and operate virtual reality technology such as Oculus Rift and Google Cardboard specifically for the need of architecture and design students.

Dr. Muhammad Faizal Bin Abdul Rani is a lecturer in the Interior Design Program. He joined Raffles University in 2017. He specializes in Thai Design concentrating on Lanna art, culture and architecture and Thai Buddhism.

Dr. Faizal has a Ph.D. in Thai studies from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, a M.Sc. in Building Technology and Construction from the University of Malaya, and a B.Sc. HBP in Interior Design from the University of Science Malaysia. He has been teaching since 2007, starting in Universiti Teknologi MARA Perak. He has also worked in the industry, designing commercial; residential and institutional projects.

Dr. Faizal has written several articles for international journals, proceedings and magazines. He has been to international industry conferences in Japan, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia.

Ms. Sharon is a lecturer in Interior Design. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design and master’s degree in Landscape Architecture.

She was a Project Manager in Singapore. As a project manager, she heads the project department for all administration, agreement, operation and project matters. She managed a team from project proposal to implementation and completion of design and build projects, while collaborate with a wide range of industry partners to ensure projects meet the performance standards and follow schedule for project deliverable.

She was an Interior Designer in Singapore and Malaysia. She has designed and delivered various interior design projects such as residential, office, shopping mall, retail, stage, and others. She has handled interior design projects from agreement, consult, conceptual design, detail drawings, selection of materials and finishes, project schedule and planning, to submission of projects. She loves to design and create something good, functional, yet aesthetic, from a small piece of furniture, to a big piece of interior space.

Ms Tan Yean Ne has completed a Diploma in Graphic Design from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Singapore and Bachelors Degree in Computer Graphic Design (Multimedia) from Waikato University, New Zealand.

She has over 10 years of experience working in design industry and 13 years of experience working in academics, specialising in Advertising, Graphic Design, Digital media, Creative Thinking & Problems Solving.

Mr Ellem Ooi is the lecturer of Graphic and Multimedia Department in Raffles University since 2018. Currently, he is in charge of teaching design and multimedia courses, as well as supervising students for their final year projects. In 2006, he obtained a Bmm (Hons) Creative Multimedia, major in Digital Media from Multimedia University. In 2018, he obtained a Masters of Instructional Design and Technology from Open University Malaysia, specializing in e-learning and educational technology.

At the beginning of his professional teaching career, he accumulated 6 years of design industry experience being an interactive graphic and web designers in Singapore and Brunei. He developed knowledge and insight in advertising, web development and internet marketing. He also dedicated over 7 years as a lecturer at the International Graduates Studies College (Brunei) and visual design and multimedia Diploma courses from Lim Kok Wing University of Creative Technology.

Mr Wong Shaw Chiang is a passionate and experienced graphic design practitioner who believes that designers should deal with a different range of issues and stand at the forefront of making the world a better place for all. He actively participates in various community projects such as TEDxSungaiSegget, Ihsan Johor Humanitarian Project, RUN Volunteer Network, and Good Earth Project to promote a sustainable development of his community.

He is a graphic design lecturer in Raffles University and a PhD candidate at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). He has vast experience in conducting design thinking programmes and workshops for university students. He is also actively involved in research and development in pedagogical methods for design-centric learning and competency models for future graphic design graduates.

He has published several papers about his views on the current state of graphic design education and profession in Malaysia.

Dr. Tirani started his art and design profession since 1996 by entering Art & Architecture University in Tehran, Iran. After finishing his Bachelor of Fine Arts and gaining experience in the field of graphic design and advertising, he moved to Malaysia in 2006 to continue in his Masters degree in the field of Visual Communication and New Media in UITM University in Shah Alam. Tirani continued his studied in his PHD research in the field of Art History and Art Aesthetic and received his doctorate in May 2017.

Dr. Tirani have been working as a freelance designer since 2000 and worked with several companies from Iran, Malaysia and Canada. His experience contain corporate identity design for different companies and variety of design works such as shirt branding, billboard, book and magazine, gift, website, etc.

Since 1995 Tirani has participated in several art exhibition and events such as Mail Art Group series in Malaysia, Greece, Italy and Canada as well as group and solo exhibitions in Iran and Malaysia. He organized several art and cultural events in Malaysian galleries and at the Art Expo Malaysia and Biennales. Dr. Tirani is also the author of the book “Experiences, A Collection of Drawings by Mohammad Tirani”.

Ms Victoria Barwood’s teaching expertise includes specialist skills in womenswear/menswear construction, sewing techniques and garment technology working with all BA Hons University level of students on design-led projects.

She was previously employed at Northumbria University, UK as a Sewing Technician to all BA Hons Fashion Design/ Fashion Design and Marketing departments. She offered support and teaching on a one to one basis as well as larger groups and classes and is trained in extensive specialist resources to support and maintain the creation and realization of student work.

She has also previously worked in both high street and luxury high end design, mainly working in production and within a design technologists’ team. She has also worked as a freelance designer to high end companies for uniform production as a pattern cutter/machine samplist. Specialisations include: Tailoring, textiles, fabric manipulation, moulage, garment fit and construction, leather work, lingerie and sportswear construction, textile and print placement, design concept, design development.

Dr. Tan Hui Siang graduated from Iowa State University (ISU) with a doctoral degree in Apparel, Merchandising, and Design in 2017, focusing on bi-cultural entrepreneurship.  She then taught in Apparel, Merchandising, and Design program (ISU) as a lecturer in spring 2018.  During her grad school, Dr. Tan worked as a graduate assistant to assist faculty in teaching and research for eight years.  Classes that she taught as a teaching assistant included fashion illustration, CAD, virtual retailing and product development labs, besides financial workshop of entrepreneurship.  Whereas for graduate research, she mostly assisted for Iowa Retail Initiative project and student consulting projects, which aim to promote rural small business development in Iowa, USA.

Before ISU, Dr. Tan was teaching online as an associate faculty for two years at University of Central Missouri, after receiving her master’s degree in Industrial Management. She also worked in the US retail stores for three years after earning her bachelor’s degree in Textile and Clothing in Business.

Ms Liew is currently the Programme Director for the English Language and the Foundation in Liberal Arts Programme at Raffles University. She holds a Masters of TESOL and has six years of experience in designing teaching and learning materials as well as teaching pre-U and undergraduate students in various types of English courses that include General English, IELTS Reading and Writing, English for Academic Purposes, Learning/ Study Skills, Business Communication, English for Communication, Critical Thinking and Intro to Liberal Arts.

As an English lecturer, she constantly strives to incorporate interactive activities and discussions for the students in the language classroom. She also believes in having students’ best interests at heart while teaching but at the same time also imparting the necessary life-long learning skills and motivating students in what she teaches.

Ms Thivya is a committed English Language lecturer with 7 years of experience at various Malaysian academic institutions teaching students from different cultural and social backgrounds. She possesses effective teaching methods that promote invigorating learning environment and often incorporates English language activities that are hands-on, authentic and interactive to strengthen on classroom learning.

She constantly provides feedback and guidance to help students to enhance their language skills. She is also willing to take initiate to improve the quality of teaching methods if required. Hardworking & dedicated, Thivya is willing to put in extra time to learn and accomplish a task. Not only that, she is also an independent and dynamic team player and able to communicate with all levels. She strongly believes in the concept of “English beyond the classroom” as it assists students to become better English language learners.

Ms Salmiah binti Awang is a lecturer at Raffles University with a Master in Malay Literature from Universiti Putra Malaysia (2010-2012) and a Bachelors Degree from the University of Malaya (2005-2008).

She has over 10 years experience in the field of Social Science, specialising in TITAS, Ethnic Relations, Malaysian Studies and Malay Language. She has also presented papers at seminars organized by public universities and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka. Amongst her studies presented at the seminar were “Simbolisme dalam Puisi Kanak-kanak”, “Keberkesanan Lagu Patriotik dalam Pembangunan Jati Diri” dan ” Dokumentasi Tumbuhan Herba dalam Menjana Kehidupan di Alam Melayu”. She is also involved in enhancement courses in teaching such as “Program Bimbingan Tenaga Pengajar Mata Pelajaran Umum”.

Dr. Samuel Chan is a Program Director and the University Counsellor at Raffles University.

Dr. Chan has a BA in Psychology from California State University, a Master of Human & Organizational Development from Azusa Pacific University, and a PhD in Guidance and Counselling from University Technology Malaysia.

He has additional roles as a Managing Director in Family Keepers Malaysia, the Chief Editor in “Family Keepers Bi-Monthly Magazine” and a member of the Board of Directors for SJK (2015-2020). He is also an Adjunct Lecturer in Malaysia Bible Seminary.

Claire holds a B.A Psychology (Counselling) and a M.A in Educational Psychology. Claire is also an International certified Brain Gym Instructor and Consultant.

Prior to her return to Malaysia, Claire served as an educational therapist at The Institute for Family Enrichment, Honolulu, Hawaii, U.S.A., where she worked with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and other specific learning disabilities. She has undergone training in numerous areas such as, Pictures Exchange Communication System (PECS), TEACCH, Touch for Health, Rhythmic Movement Therapy, Applied Behavioural Analysis, and Floor Time approach.

Adeline is a psychotherapist and registered & licensed counsellor. She graduated with an MA in Education (Guidance & Counselling) from UTM in 2015; MA in Education (Educational Psychology & Counselling) from National Chengchi University, Taiwan in 2006; Graduate Diploma in Psychology from Monash University, Australia in 2003; and BSc in Physics from Universiti Sains Malaysia, with a Major in Physics and a Minor in Management Studies in 1998.

She was awarded the Stella Crossley Prize in 2002 and William Webster Prize in 2003 by Monash University, Australia, for the highest aggregate mark in all core units of the Psychology major among 500 students worldwide. She is an experienced practitioner in psychotherapy and obtained her Advanced Diploma in Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy, The Institute of Satir Pacific, Canada in 2012; certificate in Play Therapy, SAPET, Malaysia in 2011. She was trained in a number of different counselling and psychotherapy approaches. She is an enthusiastic psychology lecturer, counsellor and psychotherapist.
